
On behalf of the Government, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang signed and promulgated Decree No. 379/2026/ND-CP dated October 2, 2026, stipulating standards and norms for the use of automobiles.
Notably, the Decree specifies the following price levels for vehicles used for general official duties:
The maximum price for purchasing vehicles for general official use is 950 million VND/vehicle; if necessary, vehicles with 12-16 seats or 7- or 8-seat 4x4 vehicles may be purchased, but not exceeding 1,300 million VND/vehicle (for vehicles with 12-16 seats) or 1,600 million VND/vehicle (for 7- or 8-seat 4x4 vehicles). The price stipulated in this clause does not apply to the cases specified in clauses 2 and 3 of this Article.
The Decree stipulates that, in cases where it is necessary to equip a number of high-powered vehicles from the general service vehicles specified in Articles 11, 13, 14, and 15 of this Decree to perform specific tasks of agencies and units of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, ministries, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, central political and social organizations, central agencies, provinces, and cities (including: serving inspection and supervision work within the Party; serving Party building and organization work, personnel work, internal political security, management and transportation of confidential documents and files, and tasks requiring high mobility and confidentiality of Party agencies at the central level; serving flood and storm prevention, disaster relief, search and rescue, disease control; combating smuggling and commercial fraud; serving inspection and supervision of the implementation of economic, cultural, and social fields; serving inspection and reception delegations). For services related to voter outreach; serving foreign affairs, receiving international guests, transporting and accompanying domestic and foreign delegations; directing border management and demarcation activities, and other specific tasks), the following rates are stipulated:
Each agency and unit of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, each ministry, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front , central political and social organizations, central agencies, provinces, and cities are equipped with 1 vehicle with a maximum price of 4,800 million VND/vehicle and 2 vehicles with a maximum price of 3,500 million VND/vehicle; special-class cities are equipped with 2 vehicles with a maximum price of 4,800 million VND/vehicle and 2 vehicles with a maximum price of 3,500 million VND/vehicle.
In the case of agencies and units of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, ministries, agencies of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, central political and social organizations, and central agencies with 15,000 to 20,000 personnel, they may be equipped with one additional vehicle at a maximum price of 3,500 million VND/vehicle; for those with more than 20,000 personnel, they may be equipped with two additional vehicles at a maximum price of 3,500 million VND/vehicle.
In the case of provinces and cities with a natural area exceeding 9,000 km2, an additional vehicle may be included, with a maximum price of 3,500 million VND per vehicle.
According to the Decree, for agencies and units of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, ministries, central agencies, provincial Party committees, and city Party committees with positions specified in Articles 6 and 7 of this Decree, in addition to the number of vehicles with prices as stipulated in point a of this clause, agencies and units of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, ministries, central agencies, provincial Party committees, and city Party committees may be equipped with automobiles to serve the specific tasks of the agency or unit with a maximum price of 5,000 million VND/vehicle.
This Decree shall take effect from November 16, 2026.
