At the meeting, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Le Xuan Dinh, along with representatives from the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Justice , the Ministry of Finance, the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, etc., exchanged and discussed the content of the Project to reorganize the model of the Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute to meet development requirements.
Concluding the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung emphasized that the development of the plan to reorganize the model of the Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute is being implemented in accordance with the Politburo 's conclusion on the development of atomic energy for peaceful purposes and national development, and the directives of General Secretary and President To Lam at the working session with the Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute on September 4, 2025. At this working session, General Secretary and President To Lam gave directives on the development of the atomic energy sector, including the request to reorganize the model of the Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister , the Politburo considers the development of nuclear energy in Vietnam to be a very important issue, reflecting a strategic vision and a comprehensive approach, from institutions, infrastructure, technology to human resources. This also demonstrates a strong political determination to build a self-reliant and strong Vietnam, enhance national standing and strength, improve people's lives, and serve peaceful purposes, in line with national strategic goals.
The Deputy Prime Minister acknowledged the Ministry of Science and Technology 's efforts in coordinating with relevant ministries and agencies to develop a plan to reorganize the model of the Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute, in order to implement the directives of the Politburo and General Secretary and President To Lam.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that finalizing the Project is a very important task that needs to be implemented soon so that the Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute has favorable conditions to become a core national science and technology organization, meeting the country's new development requirements in research and development, aiming to master technology in the field of atomic energy; and at the same time forming a team of high-quality and reputable experts and human resources in the region and internationally.
The Deputy Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Science and Technology to incorporate the opinions of the ministries and agencies at the meeting, urgently research and finalize the project proposal, and continue to solicit feedback from relevant ministries and agencies. Specifically, it is necessary to clarify the points raised in the feedback, focus on perfecting the legal basis and reasoning to ensure rigor and persuasiveness; and clarify the unique characteristics of the Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute in the current context.
Furthermore, the plan must comprehensively assess the national atomic energy development situation, strategic vision, and a holistic approach to nuclear technology; demonstrating strong political determination to build a self-reliant and strong Vietnam, enhance national standing and strength, improve people's lives, and promote peace.
The Deputy Prime Minister requested that, based on the opinions of relevant ministries and agencies, the Ministry of Science and Technology urgently finalize the draft project proposal and report it to the Prime Minister before October 20, 2026.
