Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of Thuong Tin Commune People's Committee Nguyen Van Tan shared that fire prevention and rescue work plays a particularly important role in protecting the lives, health, and property of the state, organizations, and people. When fires, explosions, accidents, or incidents occur, early detection, timely reporting, proper use of firefighting equipment, and correct escape and rescue skills are crucial in minimizing damage.
With the motto "Prevention is better than cure," public awareness campaigns need to be reformed to be more visual, engaging, accessible, people-centered, and to enhance practical application and real-world experience. The launch of the Community Fire Prevention and Rescue Education and Awareness Center in Thuong Tin commune is one concrete solution to meet this practical need.
At the Center, participants are not only provided with knowledge, information, and skill-building guidance, but also get to observe, practice, and experience specific situations such as: identifying fire and explosion hazards; using initial firefighting equipment; laying hoses and spraying water on a target; practicing evacuation in a smoky environment; skills in moving and providing first aid to victims...
Through awareness campaigns, practical exercises, and experiential activities, the Center aims to help participants master knowledge, develop initial situational handling skills, enhance their ability to protect themselves, and assist others in the event of fires, explosions, accidents, or incidents.
According to Nguyen Van Tan, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thuong Tin commune, the situation of fires and explosions remains complex, placing increasingly high demands on prevention and incident handling at the grassroots level. The launch and establishment of a volunteer firefighting force will contribute to meeting practical requirements, providing the regular firefighting force with an additional "extended arm" in residential areas.
When people are equipped with knowledge, skills, and have support forces right in their area, prevention efforts will be more proactive, and the ability to respond to incidents will be enhanced.
Through this, Thuong Tin commune is gradually building fire prevention awareness from each family, residential area, and agency; minimizing the risk of fire and explosions and the damage caused by fires. More importantly, the spirit of proactiveness, responsibility, and mutual support within the community is promoted, contributing to building a safe area, where prevention is key, the people are the main actors, and local forces are the foundation in fire prevention and rescue work.
