Vietnam and Panama officially established diplomatic relations on August 28, 1975, opening a meaningful path of cooperation between two countries that, despite being geographically distant, are close in spirit and share aspirations for peace, independence, and sustainable development.

Over the past half-century, the friendly relations and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries have been strengthened through visits, cooperation agreements, and joint participation in numerous international forums.

Bilateral trade volume has maintained stable growth. Panama consistently ranks among Vietnam's top 10 trading partners in Latin America.

Vietnam and Panama have significant potential for mutual complementarity, particularly in the areas of economics, logistics, maritime transport, finance, agriculture, renewable energy, and tourism.

With its strategic location, Panama could become a gateway for Vietnamese goods to access the Americas, while Vietnam could be a bridge for Panama to expand into the ASEAN market.

This official visit to Vietnam contributes to further promoting the traditional friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Panama, making it even stronger and more effective.

The visit will create progress in three main areas, generating further political momentum at the highest level to translate the potential and directions agreed upon by both sides into programs and action plans with concrete projects and results.

Cooperation in economics, trade, and investment has been strengthened across many sectors, including agriculture, banking, telecommunications, infrastructure, maritime transport, education and training, as well as other potential areas.

The cooperation documents expected to be signed during the visit are expected to create a solid legal basis for the bilateral relationship to deepen and develop stably.
