On October 6th, the Organizing Committee of the Hanoi Singing Contest 2026, organized by the Hanoi Press and Broadcasting Agency, held its first meeting to discuss preparations for the new season. This is the fourth season since its relaunch in 2023, aiming to continue searching for talented young singers with a passion for the arts.
A notable new feature of the Hanoi Singing Contest 2026 is the online preliminary round in the first selection stage. Contestants will record a video of themselves performing a song and send the video link along with their application to the judging panel via the HANOION application. The video must be a live recording of the performance, without backing music, digital editing, or post-production audio. According to the Organizing Committee, this method helps contestants prepare proactively, reduces travel, and is convenient for contestants from distant locations. The Organizing Committee plans to accept applications and videos from October 10th to November 5th, 2026.

According to the rules, the competition is open to Vietnamese citizens aged 16 to 30 as of December 31, 2026. Foreign contestants must be between 16 and 35 years old. Contestants can choose one of three musical styles: classical, folk, or pop. The Organizing Committee encourages the use of new works with high artistic value, appropriate content, and guaranteed copyright protection.
The judging panel will select 200 contestants via video to advance to the second preliminary round. These contestants will then compete at a centralized testing location; 60 singers will be selected for the semi-finals. According to the schedule, the first preliminary round will take place from November 3rd to November 7th, 2026; the second preliminary round will take place from November 10th to November 12th, 2026.
Following the two preliminary rounds, the Organizing Committee plans to hold the semi-final round from November 22nd to November 24th, 2026. From the semi-final round, 30 contestants will be selected for the final round, including 24 contestants judged by the Jury and 6 contestants chosen by public vote. The three final nights, featuring classical, folk, and light music, will take place on December 6th, 8th, and 10th, 2026, respectively. The final ranking and awards ceremony is scheduled for December 22nd, 2026. Each contestant will perform one song about Hanoi and one song in their registered style on the final night.

Regarding the prize structure, the Hanoi Singing Contest 2026 will have one Special Prize worth over 600 million VND; three First Prizes, each worth 100 million VND; three Second Prizes, each worth 50 million VND; and three Third Prizes, each worth 30 million VND. In addition, the contest will also have several other supplementary prizes, each worth 15 million VND.
The Hanoi Singing Contest, formerly known as the Hanoi Television Singing Contest, was established in 1994. After a 13-year hiatus, it was relaunched in 2023, marking its first season since its resumption. According to the Organizing Committee, top-ranking contestants will have the opportunity to perform at city events and programs organized and produced by the Hanoi Press and Broadcasting Agency. This is a chance for young singers to reach audiences, gain experience, and develop their careers after the competition.
In addition, the Organizing Committee will create a personal TikTok channel for each contestant, using the competition's branding, to post their journey. Viewers can follow their training process, learn about their musical style, and vote for their favorite singer through the HANOION app and the TikTok platform.
The 2025 season of the competition, organized by Hanoi Radio and Television, was marked by the participation of an international contestant singing in Vietnamese. Dao Le Phuong Chi, a classical singer, won the championship title in the final round.
