On the occasion of the 2026 National Innovation Day, the Ministry of Science and Technology is organizing the Award Ceremony for Science, Technology, Innovation and Digital Transformation Books in 2026 , aiming to honor outstanding books and book series with scientific value, application value and widespread impact; and to recognize the contributions of authors, scientists and those working in the publishing industry.

Vietnam's Red Book.

Honoring 10 outstanding science and technology books.

The award is organized within the framework of implementing Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo , Resolution No. 03/NQ-CP of the Government, and Decision No. 1169/QĐ-TTg dated June 16, 2025, of the Prime Minister promulgating the Program "Promoting communication to implement Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW" until 2030. On March 23, 2026, the Minister of Science and Technology issued Decision No. 1884/QĐ-BKHCN approving the Project to organize the "Award for Science, Technology, Innovation and Digital Transformation Books".

The award aims to honor outstanding books and book series with scientific value, practical application value, and widespread impact; to recognize the contributions of authors and publishers; and to help bring scientific knowledge, technology, innovation, and digital transformation closer to readers and society.

Through the selection and recognition of high-quality works, the Award contributes to the dissemination of scientific and technological knowledge, innovation, and digital transformation; brings research results into practice; and encourages authors, scientists, experts, and publishing houses to continue investing in works with scientific value and practical applications.

In its very first year, the Award attracted 329 entries from over 40 publishers, organizations, and affiliated partners . The entries were reviewed and evaluated based on their scientific value, novelty, applicability, and publication quality .

According to the planned structure, the Award included 22 prizes, comprising 11 for print books and 11 for e-books . However, based on the quality, scientific value, application value, and publishing quality of each work, the Council selected and awarded prizes to 10 works (including 9 print books and 1 e-book) .

First prize went to the "Vietnam Red Book" series.

The 10 honored works include 1 First Prize, 3 Second Prizes, 3 Third Prizes, and 3 Consolation Prizes .

The First Prize was awarded to the two-volume set of the Vietnamese Red Book: Volume 1 – Animals , edited by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Truong; and Volume 2 – Plants and Fungi , co-edited by Prof. Dr. Tran The Bach, Dr. Nguyen The Cuong, Dr. Do Van Hai, and Dr. Bui Hong Quang. The set was published by the Natural Science and Technology Publishing House.

Three Second Prizes were awarded to the following works: "AI and Humanity" by Prof. Dr. Ho Tu Bao, published by Science - Technology - Communication Publishing House; "Digital Literacy - Basic Digital Skills" by Dr. Tran Van Khai, published by Science - Technology - Communication Publishing House; and "Developing New Productive Forces for Breakthroughs in the Digital Age" by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Thanh Son, published by the National Political Publishing House. Of these, "AI and Humanity " was the only e-book to receive an award this year.

The three Third Prize winners are: "Outpatient Emergency Care" by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Bui Hai (editor), published by Hanoi National University Publishing House and affiliated with Vietnam Book Printing Joint Stock Company; "History of the Vietnamese Script (1615–1919)" by Dr. Pham Thi Kieu Ly, published by Literature Publishing House and affiliated with Omega Vietnam Book Joint Stock Company; and "Nuclear Power Safety" by Prof. Dr. Pham Duy Hien, published by Science - Technology - Communication Publishing House.

Three Encouragement Prizes were awarded to the following works: "Handbook on Antibiotic Use in Hospitals" by Dr. Nguyen Duc Long, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Ngoc Son, Medical Publishing House, Partner: Xanh Pon General Hospital; "A Vision for Reform in Urban Development Planning in Vietnam – Nurturing the Future, Re-establishing Human Order in Planning" by David Ching Heng Hoe, Truong Nam Thuan, Nguyen Van Vuong, Le Anh Dung, Construction Publishing House; and " Economics for the Common Good: How to Make Economic Decisions Serve the Many" by Jean Tirole, Translator: Phung Quang Hung, The World Publishing House, Partner: Omega Vietnam Book Joint Stock Company.

Honoring knowledge – Fostering creativity

The award-winning works this year span a wide range of fields, from natural sciences, technology, medicine, economics, and social sciences to digital skills and digital transformation. This diversity in fields and publication types demonstrates the increasingly important role of books in connecting scientific knowledge with practice, disseminating research findings, and spreading the spirit of innovation in society.

Each honored work is a recognition of the hard work, intellect, and creative spirit of the authors, groups of authors, and publishers; and at the same time, contributes to bringing valuable knowledge closer to readers.

The award aims to encourage authors, scientists, experts, and publishing houses to continue investing in works of high quality, scientific value, and applicability; to promote the development of science and technology books and digital publishing; and thereby contribute to the dissemination of knowledge, the promotion of innovation, and digital transformation.

Through this Award, the connection between research, publishing, and knowledge dissemination continues to be strengthened, contributing to the formation of a prestigious activity in the field of publishing books on science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation, serving the cause of scientific and technological development and national development in the new era.
