On October 3rd, in Vladivostok, the Consulate General of Vietnam, in coordination with the local authorities, organized "Vietnam Day in the Far East 2026". This was the first time a cultural, economic , and tourism festival showcasing Vietnamese identity was held in the Far East region of the Russian Federation.

The event was attended by representatives of the Primorye Oblast government, the city of Vladivostok, representatives of the Russian Federation's Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Primorye, consular officers, friendship associations, and a large number of local residents and members of the Vietnamese community.

In his opening remarks, Consul General Nguyen Viet Kien emphasized that the Far East is a land steeped in traditional Vietnamese-Russian friendship, a place marked by three visits by President Ho Chi Minh to Vladivostok. The event not only promotes the beauty of Vietnam and its people but also serves as a bridge to express gratitude for the enduring friendship between the two peoples, opening up new opportunities for cooperation in culture, economics, trade, and tourism .

The Consul General hopes the program will bring Vietnam closer to the people of Vladivostok through music, cuisine, folk games, and stories about the country's development potential.

The art program opened with a drum performance by students from the Far Eastern Federal University. Following that, the "Ao Dai Festival – Colors of Vietnam" show, performed by Vietnamese and Russian models, took the audience on a journey through the history of the ao dai from the 17th century to the present day, celebrating the graceful and elegant beauty of this traditional garment.

The audience also enjoyed many special performances such as the "Co Doi Thuong Ngan" dance, showcasing the culture of Vietnamese Mother Goddess worship; the song "Remembering Hanoi" sung by Russian opera singer Alina Sakhatskaya; a violin ensemble from the Vladivostok No. 8 Children's Art School; a Wing Chun martial arts performance; the lotus dance "A Round Trip Around Vietnam"; and the traditional Kalinka dance by young Russian artists.

After the artistic performance, guests and locals were free to explore the stalls, enjoy local specialties such as pho, spring rolls, banh mi, coffee, and dried fruits; and experience folk games like bamboo pole dancing, Dong Ho painting on Do paper, and learn about opportunities for economic and tourism cooperation.

The success of "Vietnam Day in the Far East 2026" contributes to strengthening mutual understanding, making a practical contribution to promoting the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the Russian Federation, and opening up prospects for annual exchange activities in the region.
