2026 marks the first year of the "Vietnamese Culture Day," demonstrating the profound concern of the Party and State for the development of culture and affirming the role of the people in creating, preserving, and promoting national cultural values. With the message "Thang Long - Hanoi, a thousand years of civilization - The myriad colors of Vietnam," the launching ceremony honors the cultural traditions of the capital and the cultural diversity of Vietnam's ethnic groups, initiating a series of activities throughout the city from now until November 24, 2026.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Vu Thu Ha said that Resolution No. 80 of the Politburo on the development of Vietnamese culture unanimously chose November 24th every year as Vietnamese Culture Day. This decision reflects the profound concern of the Party and the State for the development of culture, and at the same time places the responsibility on ushering cultural values ​​into social life.

According to Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Vu Thu Ha, in response to Vietnam Culture Day 2026, Hanoi city has directed the organization of many activities to honor traditional cultural values, awaken patriotism, solidarity, national pride, along with cultural, artistic, and sports activities suitable to the conditions of each locality so that people can widely participate and enjoy these positive values.

To ensure that Vietnamese Culture Day truly becomes a festival for the people, and that cultural values ​​are preserved, nurtured, and widely disseminated, Comrade Vu Thu Ha proposed that all levels and sectors of the city focus on effectively implementing the following key tasks:

For departments, agencies, and localities, it is necessary to develop and implement activities in accordance with the functions and conditions of the unit; closely linked to building a civilized working environment, enhancing a sense of responsibility and a culture of serving the people; allocating and mobilizing resources, effectively exploiting cultural institutions and public spaces to serve the people…

For intellectuals, artists, artisans, and creative individuals, it is necessary to continue contributing their talents and dedication through valuable cultural works and products; actively transmit heritage, cultivate love for national culture in the younger generation, and help ensure that traditional values ​​remain closely connected with modern life.

Furthermore, Comrade Vu Thu Ha suggested that every citizen of Hanoi and every family actively participate in local cultural activities, protect historical relics, preserve good customs and traditions, and behave civilly in public places. Young people should proactively learn about, develop creativity, and actively promote Vietnamese culture, the culture of Thang Long - Hanoi, to friends both domestically and internationally.

The program also included a signing ceremony for a cooperation agreement between Hanoi and 10 provinces and cities regarding the organization of activities at the Vietnam Ethnic Groups Cultural and Tourism Village. These provinces and cities are: Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang, Phu Tho, Son La, Gia Lai, Quang Ngai, Khanh Hoa, Dak Lak, Hue, and Can Tho. This signing ceremony contributes to strengthening linkages between localities in preserving and promoting the cultural values ​​of Vietnam's ethnic groups.

At the launching ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Huu Thinh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Vi commune, representing the communes and wards of the city, delivered a speech expressing support and pledging to effectively implement programs to promote the cultural values ​​of the locality.

The highlight of the Launch Ceremony is an artistic program staged according to a theme ranging from the unified beauty of the country to the cultural identity of the three regions, focusing on portraying the unique characteristics of Thang Long - Hanoi. Along with performances by professional artists, there will be a community cultural exchange and performance showcasing the traditional arts of many ethnic groups such as the Ba Na, Gia Rai, Ede, Tay, Thai, Dao, Ta Oi, Co Tu, and Khmer...

The launching ceremony for the 2026 "Vietnam Culture Day" took place at the Vietnam Ethnic Groups Cultural and Tourism Village. Hanoi identified this as the opening program, creating momentum and spreading the message for the series of "Vietnam Culture Day" activities in Hanoi in 2026. Through this, Hanoi continues to affirm its role as a major cultural center of the country, while promoting the historical, cultural, and traditional values ​​of a thousand years of civilization and connecting and spreading the cultural values ​​of the 54 ethnic groups of Vietnam.

On October 3rd and 4th, 2026, the Vietnam Ethnic Culture and Tourism Village will host exhibitions, performances, cultural exchanges, and experiences; showcasing the cultural spaces of Thang Long - Hanoi and featuring 20 booths displaying and promoting traditional craft village products, OCOP products, and other typical products of the city. Locals and tourists will have the opportunity to directly participate, learn about, and experience cultural values ​​alongside artisans, artists, and ethnic communities.

The six Thang Long - Hanoi cultural spaces include traditional arts and culture, "Autumn in Hanoi," craft villages and streets, Thang Long calligraphy, Van Phuc silk, and Trang An cuisine. The remaining stalls showcase traditional handicrafts, typical craft village and street products, and OCOP products of Hanoi.

Following the launching ceremony and related activities, the "Vietnamese Culture Day in Hanoi" program will take place from November 21st to 24th, 2026, in the pedestrian area around Hoan Kiem Lake. Identified by the city as one of the capital's signature cultural events, the program creates a space for connection, exchange, and promotion of Vietnamese culture; encouraging people to participate in preserving, practicing, creating, and enjoying culture. Through this, the program enhances Hanoi's role as a major cultural center of the country, contributing to building a "Culturally Rich, Civilized, and Modern" capital city.
