Long Dien commune to conduct defense combat drill in 2026

Long Dien is the 9th commune in Ca Mau province to organize a defense combat exercise in 2026. This commune-level exercise aims to enhance the leadership, direction, management, and coordination capabilities of local Party committees, authorities, and armed forces in handling emergency situations.

On October 1st, the Steering Committee for the Long Dien Commune Defense Combat Exercise held the opening ceremony for the 2026 defense combat exercise.

Attending the opening ceremony were: Mr. Pham Van Thieu, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, and Deputy Head of the Provincial Exercise Steering Committee; Mr. Bui Tan Bay, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, and Deputy Head of the Provincial Exercise Organizing Committee; and Colonel Nguyen Minh Qui, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Provincial Military Command, and Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Exercise Organizing Committee.

Comrade Pham Van Thieu, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, and Deputy Head of the Provincial Exercise Steering Committee, acknowledged the sense of responsibility and efforts of the Party Committee, the People's Committee, and the Exercise Organizing Committee. In his opening remarks, Comrade Pham Van Thieu, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, and Deputy Head of the Provincial Exercise Steering Committee, emphasized that the exercise has practical significance and contributes to concretizing the resolutions of the Party and the State on building a defense zone.

The Deputy Head of the Provincial Exercise Steering Committee requested that, after the exercise, the Organizing Committee should summarize, evaluate, and draw lessons learned; supplement and finalize the system of documents, plans, and combat strategies according to regulations, as a basis for carrying out tasks when actual situations occur.

The Long Dien commune defense combat exercise in 2026 consists of three phases: transitioning armed forces into combat readiness states, transitioning local activities into national defense states; organizing combat preparations; and conducting defensive combat exercises.

On the first day, the Organizing Committee implemented the framework for training and conducting operational drills for meetings of Party committees, government agencies, departments, mass organizations, and the Civil Defense Command; practicing the transition of armed forces from a high state of combat readiness to a full state of combat readiness, and shifting local operations into a wartime state.

A drill on operating the mechanism was conducted at the meeting of the Standing Committee of the Long Dien Commune Party Committee.

In addition to the above, the forces conducted a civil defense drill simulating disaster prevention, response, and search and rescue operations. This was one of the key aspects of the exercise, aimed at improving the coordination and response capabilities of the forces when natural disasters occur.

The forces practiced civil defense drills involving scenarios of disaster prevention and control, and search and rescue.
