Get early checkups for proactive health care.
In Hoa Binh commune, regular health check-ups are becoming an opportunity for residents to check their health right in their local area, receive advice from doctors, and get guidance on appropriate care. Not only do these check-ups help detect abnormalities early, but they also contribute to forming a habit of proactively monitoring health, instead of only seeking medical attention when symptoms appear.
Ho Thanh Thuy (far right), Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ca Mau province, visited and encouraged the medical staff and people of Hoa Binh commune who came for health screening.
Ms. Duong Thi Dinh, from Lang Giai A hamlet, Hoa Binh commune, shared: “The doctor examined me attentively and thoroughly, and provided very detailed guidance. I try to maintain regular health check-ups to proactively take care of my health. Being able to get examined right in my locality like this is very convenient for the people.”
For people with underlying health conditions, regular check-ups are even more important in monitoring their health, identifying risks early, and determining appropriate interventions. Ms. Truong Kim Tuyet, also from Lang Giai hamlet, has multiple health problems, so receiving examinations and consultations locally gives her greater peace of mind.
“ I suffer from several ailments such as high blood pressure and cervical spondylosis. X-rays also revealed spinal spurs and a herniated disc, so I was quite worried. Fortunately, I received thorough advice and guidance from the doctor. Having the examination right in my local area saved me from having to travel far and reduced waiting time , ” said Mrs. Tuyet .
A single check-up can identify many health risks early. More importantly, each health check-up contributes to forming proactive disease prevention habits in the community.
Bringing screening closer to every citizen.
Thanks to a shift in public awareness, the Ca Mau health sector is gradually innovating its approach, moving the focus from treating diseases after they have already occurred to proactive screening, detection, and early intervention.
Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province, Nguyen Minh Luan, launched a 45-day intensive campaign to accelerate the progress of periodic health check-ups and screenings for people in the province.
To date, nearly 81% of the population in Ca Mau has received regular health check-ups. The province is currently implementing a 45-day intensive campaign, striving to achieve the goal of having every citizen receive at least one health check-up per year by the end of October.
According to Nguyen Minh Luan, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province, health check-ups are not just about initial examinations, but more importantly, they are about screening and detecting diseases so that people can access specialized treatment.
We aim for every citizen to receive a health check-up at least once a year. This will allow the healthcare sector to screen for and detect diseases early, providing appropriate advice and treatment. Cases requiring specialized treatment will be connected with hospitals and medical universities in Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho to support Ca Mau province.

Notably, health check-up activities are not only concentrated at health stations but are also extended to every hamlet, village, and residential area. For the elderly and those with mobility difficulties, medical teams will visit their homes to provide free examinations and medication.
This approach brings healthcare services closer to the people and helps high-risk groups access timely healthcare.

Medical teams went to each hamlet, village, and residential area to conduct health screenings and provide free medicine to the people.
Based on the results of the implementation in 2026, Ca Mau will continue to aim at linking screening with appropriate treatment in each locality; at the same time, it will strengthen communication so that people, especially those with underlying diseases or chronic illnesses, better understand the necessity of regular health check-ups.
Therefore, disease prevention is no longer solely the responsibility of the healthcare sector. When people proactively check their health, doctors proactively identify risks, and the healthcare system proactively reaches out to the community, healthcare is placed on a new foundation: earlier detection, earlier intervention, and more effective disease prevention.
