
At the ceremony, the organizing committee awarded scholarships to 120 new students from disadvantaged backgrounds and with great determination from the northern mountainous provinces of Son La, Lao Cai, Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Cao Bang , Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang, and Lang Son. Each scholarship was worth 15 million VND; of which, there were two special scholarships worth 50 million VND each.
Besides awarding scholarships to support new university students, the organizing committee also paid special attention to the teachers who are diligently teaching in the mountainous regions of Northern Vietnam. Accordingly, 24 teachers with particularly difficult circumstances each received 25 million VND to help alleviate their hardships, provide them with motivation to continue their work, remain steadfast in their profession, and accompany their students on their journey to acquire knowledge. In addition, the program donated 6 laptops to new university students facing extreme difficulties and lacking necessary learning equipment.

Journalist Nguyen Hoang Nguyen, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Tuoi Tre Online Newspaper, shared that this is the third scholarship awarding ceremony in the 2026 "Supporting Students to School" program for new university students, part of Tuoi Tre Newspaper's "For a Developed Tomorrow" program. In 2026, the program is expected to award 1,200 scholarships with a total budget of over 20 billion VND. Each scholarship is worth 15 million VND for disadvantaged new university students, and there will be 25 special scholarships for outstanding new university students worth 1.25 billion VND (50 million VND each).
As one of the new students from disadvantaged backgrounds who received a scholarship, Sa Mai Huong (from Son La province), a student at Pasteur Medical College in Hanoi, shared about her difficult circumstances and those of her family. She expressed her sincere gratitude to the organizers for their support in her studies and promised to study hard so that after graduation she can find a stable job, help her family, and contribute to society.

According to the organizers, the "Supporting Students to School" program, which started in 2003 with 27 scholarships, will continue for 23 years in 2026 to support disadvantaged but resilient new students. The program has awarded scholarships to 26,853 disadvantaged new students entering college and university, with a total budget of over 252 billion VND.
