Let AI become the teacher's assistant.
The Department of Education and Training of Tuyen Quang province recently collaborated with the STEAM for Vietnam organization and Meta Group to launch the "AI Fluency 2026" training program, aiming to enhance the artificial intelligence application capabilities of administrators and teachers throughout the province.
The program was organized in a hybrid format, combining in-person and online participation, connecting the Tuyen Quang Department of Education and Training with educational institutions throughout the province. This was identified as one of the specific activities aimed at promoting digital transformation , improving the quality of the teaching staff, and gradually developing the capacity to use AI safely and effectively in schools.

According to the Tuyen Quang Department of Education and Training, the program aims to popularize AI skills for approximately 32,000 administrators and teachers throughout the province. The large-scale implementation is expected to create opportunities for educators, including those in remote and disadvantaged areas, to access new technological tools to support their professional work.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Tuyen Quang Province, Dinh The Hiep, emphasized the need to shift from the spontaneous use of AI to the safe, effective, and responsible application of technology.
The program's guiding principle is "Learning by doing - Learning to create tangible products." Through training, teachers not only learn to use AI tools but also gradually develop the ability to select appropriate tools, leverage AI for professional purposes, and manage risks arising during use.
This approach is also in line with the current demands for educational reform, as digital competence is increasingly becoming an important component of teachers' professional competence.
One of the key messages emphasized at the program was that AI applications must ultimately aim to improve the quality of teaching and learning and serve learners.
Leaders of the Tuyen Quang Department of Education and Training believe that AI cannot replace the heart, empathy, and responsibility of a teacher. However, if used correctly, technology can support teachers in reducing administrative tasks, searching for and processing information, thereby freeing up time to invest in professional development, create lesson plans, and support students.

This perspective is particularly relevant for teachers in disadvantaged areas. Where access to learning resources and professional support tools is limited, being equipped with AI capabilities can open up new ways to access knowledge and design teaching activities.
Ms. Vang Thi Dinh, a teacher at Dong Van Ethnic Boarding Secondary and High School, and one of the effective AI application ambassador teachers in the highlands, shared her experience at the program, demonstrating that AI applications can absolutely begin with specific needs in the classroom.
Based on teaching practices in mountainous regions, teachers can leverage AI to support the development of learning materials, suggest learning activities, and design content suitable for different student groups. More importantly, teachers still retain their decisive role in selecting content, verifying information, and organizing the educational process.
Incorporating practical experiences from the grassroots into training programs helps AI to be seen not only as a technological concept, but also as a tool linked to specific problems in teaching and learning.
Towards popularizing AI skills among educators.
The “AI Fluency 2026” program is the result of a collaboration between the Tuyen Quang Education Department, STEAM for Vietnam, and Meta. From initial connections in late March 2026 to the signing of a cooperation agreement at the “AI Day 2026” event in April, the parties have gradually concretized the goal of bringing AI capabilities closer to the teaching staff.
Speaking at the program, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Thao, Director of Public Policy at Meta, shared her empathy for the difficulties that education in mountainous regions is facing. According to her, equipping teachers with technological skills will contribute to expanding opportunities for students to access knowledge, thereby gradually narrowing the technological gap between regions.
Meta is committed to continuing to support the Tuyen Quang Education sector in the implementation of the program.

Meanwhile, Mr. Tran Viet Hung, Founder of STEAM for Vietnam, emphasized the potential that AI can bring to education and students' learning experiences. STEAM for Vietnam will focus its resources on supporting the training program, accompanying teachers in Tuyen Quang in their learning and application process.
With over 32,000 administrators and teachers participating, “AI Fluency 2026” is more than just a technology training course. Beyond that, the program aims to build a workforce of educators capable of adapting to change, leveraging technology to enhance work efficiency, while simultaneously understanding the limitations and responsibilities associated with using AI.
For Tuyen Quang, a province with a large geographical area and many schools in remote, mountainous, and ethnic minority regions, organizing training in a blended format (combining in-person and online instruction) also expands accessibility for teachers.
As digital skills improve more uniformly, technology can become one of the tools supporting the education sector in achieving its goal of improving educational quality in all regions.
From the classroom to school administration, AI is posing new demands on educators. With "AI Fluency 2026," Tuyen Quang is moving towards an approach where technology is not outside of education but becomes a tool to support teachers in doing their core job better: teaching, inspiring, and accompanying students' growth.
