On the afternoon of October 6th, authorities in Gia Dinh ward, Ho Chi Minh City, coordinated with relevant units to cordon off and handle the scene of an accident where a construction machine weighing tens of tons fell onto Bui Huu Nghia street.

According to initial information, at approximately 4:15 PM on the same day, at the Xuyen Tam canal dredging, environmental improvement, and infrastructure construction project (Gia Dinh ward), a construction machine reinforcing the cement-soil foundation broke its axle and fell towards Bui Huu Nghia street while being brought into the construction site for installation.

A massive iron structure weighing tens of tons collapsed, lying across the road, its body pressing against the sidewalk, and its head falling into the adjacent alley. The incident caused panic among residents living in the surrounding area.

A resident in the area shared: "The loud noise shook the whole house. I ran out and saw a block of iron lying across the road. Luckily, no cars were passing by at that time, otherwise it would have been very dangerous."

Initial reports indicate that the incident caused no casualties or property damage, only temporarily disrupting traffic on Bui Huu Nghia street.

Approximately 30 minutes after the incident occurred, the Gia Dinh Ward Police, along with other functional units, the construction unit, and the supervisory consultant, sealed off the scene, erected barriers, and diverted traffic. Simultaneously, the units concentrated resources on urgently rectifying the situation and relocating the equipment back within the construction site.

This is one of eight CDM drilling rigs recently added by the consortium of contractors to accelerate project progress. The equipment is currently in the assembly phase and has not yet undergone on-site inspection by the parties involved.

Regarding this incident, the investor stated that they will conduct a thorough review and learn from the experience to prevent similar incidents from recurring throughout the project.
