According to the Report on the socio-economic situation in the third quarter of 2026 and the first nine months of 2026, recently published by the General Statistics Office ( Ministry of Finance ), the "500-day campaign to intensify the search, collection, and identification of the remains of martyrs" is being vigorously implemented by all levels, sectors, units, and localities, leading up to the 80th anniversary of the Day of War Invalids and Martyrs (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2027).

As of September 23rd, the search and repatriation of the remains of fallen soldiers continues to yield remarkable results. Nationwide, 2,803 remains of fallen soldiers have been found and repatriated, including 1,773 within Vietnam, 174 in Laos, and 856 in Cambodia.

Simultaneously, the work of collecting remains for identification and verification of martyrs' identities has been intensified. To date, remains have been collected from 199,908 martyrs' graves, reaching 94.78% of the target. Of these, 139,016 graves meet the criteria for collection (69.35%), while 60,892 graves do not yet meet the criteria. In addition, 99,443 remains of martyrs from various localities have been received, stored, and preserved.

Alongside the search and recovery efforts, local authorities and relevant agencies organized 18 memorial and burial ceremonies for fallen soldiers, receiving 893 remains for burial in accordance with regulations.

Mine and unexploded ordnance clearance work is being carried out simultaneously with the search and collection of unexploded ordnance, especially in areas where fierce fighting took place. As of September 23, 2026, functional forces had cleared 15,615.8/22,725 hectares, achieving 70.66% of the plan.

Notably, in the core area of ​​Vi Xuyen ( Tuyen Quang ), the cleared area reached 4,395.6/4,460 hectares, equivalent to 98.56%. To carry out the task, a total of 360 demining teams were mobilized, using 1,311 detectors and equipment, with 5,183 people participating.

These results demonstrate the great efforts of all levels, sectors, and functional forces in fulfilling important political and social tasks, contributing to honoring the heroic martyrs and meeting the aspirations of their families.
