The most outstanding feature in the nine-month growth picture is the surge in the industrial and construction sectors. The added value of the entire industrial sector increased by 11.02%, contributing 41.39% to the overall growth rate of the economy . Specifically, the manufacturing sector increased by 11.36%, contributing 33.85%; and the construction sector increased by 12.22%, contributing 8.23%.
The region's momentum stems from multiple directions: large-scale projects coming online, recovering export orders, and accelerated public investment, all of which create a ripple effect on manufacturing and construction.

In the first nine months of 2026, the disbursement of public investment capital nationwide reached VND 661,800 billion, equivalent to 59.9% of the annual plan and a 19% increase compared to the same period last year. Of this, central government capital reached nearly VND 97,000 billion, equivalent to 60.2% of the annual plan and a 9.1% increase; local government capital reached VND 564,800 billion, equivalent to 59.9% of the plan and a 20.9% increase.
Total registered foreign direct investment (FDI) in Vietnam as of September 30, 2026 reached US$50.36 billion, an increase of 76.4% compared to the same period last year. FDI disbursed in the first nine months reached US$21.07 billion, an increase of 12.1%, the highest nine-month figure in the years since 2022.
Furthermore, international trade continues to be a crucial driving force of the economy. In the first nine months, total merchandise exports and imports reached US$888.02 billion, an increase of 30.4% compared to the same period last year; exports reached US$434.30 billion, an increase of 24.5%, while imports reached US$453.72 billion, an increase of 36.7%.
Notably, September recorded a trade surplus of $1.27 billion, after nine consecutive months of trade deficits. However, for the first nine months of the year, the overall trade balance for goods still showed a deficit of $19.42 billion.
According to Dr. Nguyen Thi Huong, Director of the General Statistics Office, GDP growth has improved quarter by quarter, increasing from 8.15% in Q1 to 8.81% in Q2 and 9.95% in Q3, bringing the nine-month growth rate to 9.01%. However, achieving double-digit growth for the whole year still faces many challenges.
In the fourth quarter, focus should be placed on accelerating the disbursement of public investment, maintaining industrial production capacity, consolidating export orders, stimulating domestic purchasing power, developing services and tourism , while controlling inflation and external risks.
