In early October, construction at Long Thanh Airport ( Dong Nai province ) continued to accelerate. This is the phase where the project moves towards completion, inspection, testing, and preparation for operation.

Long Thanh Airport is gradually nearing completion, with many components racing towards the finish line.
At the passenger terminal, contractors are focusing on completing the central area and the west wing, installing check-in counters, creating landscaping, and testing the escalators, baggage handling system, X-ray machines, and jet bridges.
Simultaneously, the aviation lighting and signage system on runway 1 was switched on for operational testing. The system is installed along 4km of runway 1 and 1.8km of approach platform area at both ends of the runway, each end measuring 900m. Upon testing, the system was found to be operating stably and meeting the necessary conditions for preparing for operation.
According to the Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), Component 3 of the Long Thanh Airport project – essential aviation facilities – comprises 16 main construction packages. Of these, 4 packages have been completed, and the remaining packages are underway. By early September 2026, the cumulative value of work completed on the 16 packages reached over 80% of the contract value.

Numerous drills and inspections have been conducted at Long Thanh Airport, covering many important aspects.
Alongside the construction work, the relevant forces have begun practicing scenarios for the operational phase. One of the exercises being conducted is a drill simulating a fuel leak during aircraft refueling.
Through the drills, the forces practiced procedures for detecting, reporting, controlling the area, and coordinating the handling of situations. This allowed for a review and further refinement of response procedures before the airport enters trial operation. According to the plan, Long Thanh Airport will conduct trial operations from October to November 2026, before expected commercial operation in December 2026.
Along with infrastructure completion, recruitment for personnel serving Long Thanh Airport is also underway. According to the plan, from August to the end of 2026, 3-4 more recruitment rounds will be organized, with an expected additional 200 personnel.

The process of interviewing and recruiting personnel for Long Thanh Airport is underway.
Previously, according to the Long Thanh Airport Project Management Board, from the beginning of 2026 to around August, the unit organized 4 recruitment drives, recruiting more than 220 new personnel, bringing the total number of employees working at the airport to approximately 400. Phase 1 of Long Thanh Airport is expected to officially begin operations in December 2026. To prepare the workforce for operation, Long Thanh Airport is currently recruiting for 11 positions, including drivers and ground equipment operators, maintenance and repair personnel for technical equipment; apron inspection and supervision personnel; and airfield cleaning staff.
These positions require applicants to have graduated from high school, possess a professional qualification ranging from technical college to university level or higher, and have a minimum English proficiency of TOEIC 300 or equivalent. The salary for these positions is no less than 13 million VND per person per month.
Through recruitment drives, most workers meet the professional qualification requirements but are limited in foreign language skills and other skills. Meanwhile, Long Thanh Airport is being developed as a regional transit hub with a large volume of international passengers. Therefore, foreign language skills and cross-cultural communication skills are essential requirements for the workforce at the airport.
After being hired, employees will participate in internal training courses and regular retraining. Before the trial operation phase, personnel will practice scenarios and familiarize themselves with the automated baggage handling system, automated control gates, and new generation screening equipment.

Many new personnel have been recruited to serve at Long Thanh Airport.
According to ACV, phase 1 of Long Thanh Airport requires nearly 14,000 workers across five sectors: airport operations (2,961 people); air traffic control (881 people); air transport (828 people); aviation services (8,909 people); and airport authority (190 people). In addition, there is a recruitment need of approximately 1,544 people across 10 direct labor sectors.
With the work progressing to the completion, testing, and operational preparation phases, construction items and workforce preparation are being implemented simultaneously, aiming to bring phase 1 of Long Thanh Airport into operation by the end of 2026.
