On October 6th, information from the Dak Sao Commune Police indicated that the unit had just completed the procedures for receiving a pangolin voluntarily handed over by a local resident.

Earlier, on the afternoon of October 5th, Mr. A Thuong (a member of the Xo Dang ethnic group, residing in Nang Lon village, Dak Sao commune) spotted an animal with a horn-like scaly body moving along the roadside while working in his field near the communal house.

Recognizing it as a rare pangolin, Mr. Thuong carefully protected it, put it in a bag, and brought it to the Dak Sao Commune Police Station to report and hand it over.

At the time of reception, the pangolin weighed approximately 2kg and was in stable health. This is an endangered, rare, and precious forest animal belonging to group IB and is listed in the Red Book of Vietnam.

The Dak Sao commune police have drawn up a record of receipt and are coordinating with the local forest rangers and specialized agencies to care for the pangolin, completing the necessary procedures for its release back into its natural environment according to regulations.

Mr. A Thuong's voluntary act of handing over a rare animal not only contributes to protecting a wild animal but also spreads awareness of working together to conserve biodiversity in the community.
