On the afternoon of October 6th, the National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting warned that heavy rain in Central Vietnam is gradually shifting southward, concentrating from the southern part of Quang Tri province to the eastern part of Quang Ngai province.

According to the meteorological agency, due to the influence of a strengthening cold front moving south, combined with a tropical convergence zone and disturbances in the easterly wind zone at high altitudes, the central region is entering a period of widespread heavy rain.

From now until October 8th, rainfall will generally be 100-200mm, with some areas exceeding 300mm. Hue City and Da Nang City will experience heavy to very heavy rain, with rainfall generally ranging from 200-400mm, and some areas exceeding 600mm. The National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting is raising the natural disaster risk level due to heavy rain in these two cities to level 2.

From the night of October 8th to 10th, heavy rain from Hue City to the eastern part of Quang Ngai province is expected to gradually decrease. However, the area of heavy rain will shift northward in Central Vietnam, potentially extending to Thanh Hoa province. This rain event is likely to last until October 11th.

Experts from the National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting warn that prolonged heavy rainfall poses a risk of severe flooding in low-lying areas and urban centers, while also increasing the risk of flash floods and landslides.

According to updates from the Southern Vietnam Meteorological and Hydrological Station, the South is forecast to enter a period of heavy rain, with scattered moderate rain, and in some places heavy to very heavy rain.

Rain will be concentrated mainly during midday, afternoon, evening, and night. Some areas may experience early morning rain, with rainfall tending to increase on October 7th and 8th.

Heavy rains may cause flooding in low-lying areas with poor drainage. Water levels on rivers and canals in Southern Vietnam are expected to rise rapidly in the coming days due to the influence of the high tide at the beginning of the ninth lunar month.

In Ho Chi Minh City, from the 8th to the 10th, early morning water levels may exceed alarm level 2 and approach alarm level 3.
