On the morning of October 3rd, in Gia Lai, the Ministry of Education and Training, in collaboration with the Green Future Foundation – Thien Tam Foundation and Vingroup Corporation, held the launch ceremony for the project “Building a Green School Together with Children”.

The project is implemented based on the Cooperation Agreement for the "Green Education , Green Sports" Program for the period 2023–2028 between the Ministry of Education and Training and the Foundation for a Green Future – Thien Tam Foundation, Vingroup Corporation. In this program, "Building Green Schools" is a crucial component, assigned by the Ministry of Education and Training to the Department of Science, Technology and Information to lead and coordinate with the Foundation for implementation during the period 2024–2028.

According to its vision, the Green School not only focuses on landscape and facilities but also aims for a combination of green spaces, green resource management, green education, green behavior, and green culture. Students practice a green lifestyle within the school; teachers play the role of organizing, inspiring, and guiding students to form positive habits.

In 2025, the project will conduct field surveys at 12 educational institutions in 6 provinces and cities to assess facilities, environmental education activities, and school needs. In 2026, the project will shift to training, workshops, practical application, and gradually establish a network of Green Schools.

Mr. Tran Nam Tu, Deputy Director of the Department of Science, Technology and Information, Ministry of Education and Training, emphasized that the project does not apply a single model to all localities. Depending on natural conditions, culture, and education, each locality can develop appropriate models.

The project introduces the 7R criteria, comprising seven principles aimed at minimizing waste and optimizing resources. These criteria serve as a common framework for connecting the Green School network, while also encouraging each locality to develop one to two models that attract the participation of students, parents, and the community.

The project aims to cultivate a generation of students with green thinking, behavior, skills, and a green living culture, contributing to the achievement of sustainable development goals and environmental protection.
