Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Van Trung, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Lam Kinh Festival 2026, delivered the opening speech for the Lam Kinh Festival 2026.
Accordingly, in 1407, after the defeat of the Ho Dynasty, Dai Viet fell under the rule of the Ming Dynasty, and the people suffered much pain and loss. In 1416, at Lung Nhai, Le Loi and 18 talented generals organized an oath ceremony, determined to fight the Ming invaders and reclaim the country. From then on, many heroes and valiant men from all regions flocked to Lam Son to join the cause.
On the second day of the Lunar New Year in the year of Mau Tuat (1418), under the leadership of Prince Binh Dinh Le Loi, the Lam Son Uprising officially began. After 10 years of fighting, with Le Loi's strategic brilliance and the unity and fighting spirit of the rebel army and the people, in 1428, the uprising achieved victory, driving the Ming army out of the country.

Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Secretary Le Duc Thai beat the drum to officially open the festival.
In April 1428, Lê Lợi ascended the throne as Emperor, adopting the reign name Thuận Thiên, restoring the national name Đại Việt, and establishing the Later Lê Dynasty. After his coronation, Emperor Lê Thái Tổ chose the Lam Sơn region as the place for ancestral worship and the resting place of the emperors and empresses. From then on, Lam Kinh, or Tây Kinh, became a sacred land, preserving historical and cultural values associated with the Later Lê Dynasty and the Lam Sơn Uprising.
In the solemn atmosphere of the grand ceremony, Provincial Party Secretary Le Duc Thai beat the drum to officially open the festival. This year's festival featured an artistic program themed "The Spirit of Lam Son - A Heroic Epic of Vietnam," recreating key milestones of the Lam Son Uprising, from the Lung Nhai Oath Ceremony and the Lam Son Uprising to the moment of King Le Loi's coronation as Emperor.
The program simultaneously portrays the continuation of Thanh Hoa's historical and cultural traditions and its aspirations for development in the new era. With the participation of over 200 artists, actors, and artisans, the meticulously staged program combines modern music and dance with intangible cultural heritage and traditional performing arts characteristic of Thanh Hoa, such as the Xuan Pha folk performance and gong and drum performances.

A large number of locals and tourists attended the festival.
On October 2nd, residents and tourists attending the 2026 Lam Kinh Festival will receive free admission to the Lam Kinh National Special Historical Site. This policy facilitates the participation of a large number of people and tourists in traditional ceremonies, offering incense to commemorate ancestors, and exploring the system of relics, architecture, and unique historical and cultural values of the Lam Son region.
Offering free admission during the festival also helps bring the heritage closer to the community, especially the younger generation; thereby raising awareness about preserving and promoting the value of the heritage, while promoting the image of Lam Kinh and Thanh Hoa culture to tourists.
The Lam Kinh Festival, held annually, is not only an occasion to commemorate and express gratitude for the contributions of our ancestors, but also contributes to educating about patriotic traditions and fostering national pride. Through this, the historical and cultural values of the Lam Son region continue to be preserved, promoted, and disseminated in contemporary life.
