On the morning of October 3rd, at the National Historical Monument of the Tran Tat Van Temple, the People's Committee of An Khanh commune organized a traditional festival commemorating the 500th anniversary of the return of the First-Rank Scholar Tran Tat Van to pay respects to his ancestors (1526 - 2026).
Attending the event were Deputy Secretaries of the City Party Committee: Do Manh Hien; Pham Van Lap, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city; members of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee: Le Tri Vu, Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Council; Nguyen Quang Phuc, Head of the City Party Committee's Propaganda Department; Nguyen Van Phu, Principal of To Hieu Political School; representatives of the local government, along with a large number of people and tourists.

Tran Tat Van, the top scholar, was born in Nguyet Ang village, Thai Son commune, An Lao district (formerly An Khanh commune). From a young age, Tran Tat Van was known for his studious and diligent spirit. He passed the imperial examination in the year Bing Tuat (1526) during the reign of King Le Cung Hoang. He was the only top scholar from the former An Lao district under the feudal system and ranked 30th out of 47 top scholars nationwide.
Over the past 500 years, his name and legacy have been cherished, preserved, and passed down through generations of local people.

Every year on the 24th day of the 8th lunar month, the former Thai Son commune (now An Khanh commune) holds a traditional festival for local people to remember their roots, commemorate, and express gratitude to the outstanding son of their homeland.
The festival also serves as an opportunity to promote, honor, and cultivate the tradition of studiousness, respect for morality, and appreciation for talented individuals; at the same time, it contributes to preserving and promoting traditional cultural values, educating the younger generation about the principle of "drinking water, remembering the source" and the responsibility to preserve and promote the good values of their homeland.

This year's festival includes many activities such as traditional ceremonies, cultural and sports events, and awards ceremonies for outstanding students.
From a historical milestone 500 years ago, the story of the top scholar Tran Tat Van is still remembered by generations who continue the tradition of studiousness in their homeland.
This is also a way for the values of our ancestors to continue to be passed down, becoming the driving force for every son and daughter of An Khanh today to work together to build a more civilized, prosperous, and beautiful homeland.

The 500th anniversary celebration of the return of the top scholar Tran Tat Van to pay respects to his ancestors and the traditional festival in 2026 will take place over four days, from October 1-4.
The National Historical Monument of the Tran Tat Van Temple is not only a place of worship but also where An Khanh commune organizes traditional cultural festivals; and celebrates and honors outstanding students with excellent academic achievements.
