Delegates performed the ribbon-cutting ceremony to inaugurate the Khanh Binh - Chrey Thom international road border gate.

On the morning of October 3rd, the People's Committee of An Giang province, in coordination with the Kandal Provincial Administrative Court, held a ceremony to announce the opening of the Khanh Binh - Chrey Thom international land border gate.

Attending the ceremony on behalf of the central agencies of Vietnam were Lieutenant General Pham Truong Son, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army; representatives of the leadership of the National Border Committee, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , etc.

The leaders of An Giang province included: Comrade Ho Van Mung, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Tran Thi Thanh Huong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council; Le Thanh Viet, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province; Major General Nguyen Van Han, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Provincial Police; and Le Van Phuoc, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee...

On the Cambodian side were General Prak Sovanna, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Defence ; Chairman of the Kandal Provincial Council Nou Sakhan; Governor of Kandal Province Kuoch Chamroeun, along with representatives from various government agencies.

Deputy Chairman of the National Border Committee, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Hoang Hai presented the Government Resolution approving the upgrading of Khanh Binh main border gate to Khanh Binh international road border gate to Vice Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Le Van Phuoc.

Chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang province, Ho Van Mung, delivered a speech at the ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung said the province expects that putting the two border gates into operation will create more impetus for the development of the border economy . An Giang aims to achieve a total import and export value of approximately 1.2 billion USD by 2030, gradually strengthening the connection of goods from the Mekong Delta with Cambodia and other markets in the region.

Allowing third-country citizens and vehicles to cross the border is also expected to facilitate the development of international tourism routes connecting An Giang and other provinces in the Mekong Delta with Phnom Penh and other localities in the region.

Along with promoting trade, services, logistics, and tourism, the operation of the two border gates facilitates coordination between the authorities of the two countries in border management, immigration control, import and export control, and the prevention and combating of transnational crime, human trafficking, illegal immigration, and trade fraud.

Delegates witnessed the clearance of cargo vehicles through the Khánh Bình - Chrey Thom international road border crossing.

Previously, on August 7, 2026, the Government issued Resolution No. 219/NQ-CP, approving the upgrading of Khanh Binh main border gate to an international road border gate. After the upgrade, An Giang province has four international border gates: Tinh Bien, Ha Tien, Vinh Xuong, and Khanh Binh.

Khanh Binh - Chrey Thom is the second international border gate connecting An Giang province with Kandal province, after the Vinh Xuong - Kaam Samnor border gate. Located approximately 75km from Phnom Penh, Khanh Binh border gate has convenient road and waterway connections.
