On October 3rd, the Military Command of Ha Tinh province announced that the Engineering Battalion and the Staff Department, in coordination with relevant forces, successfully detonated two unexploded bombs remaining from the war, ensuring absolute safety for personnel and equipment.
Earlier, on October 1st, residents discovered an exposed bomb in Chu Le village, Huong Pho commune, after heavy rains caused soil erosion.
Upon inspection, the engineering corps determined that it was an MK-82 bomb, a 500LBS type, approximately 1.54 m long, 27.4 cm in diameter, and weighing about 227 kg.

The second bomb was discovered by locals on September 23rd during land leveling work in a wooded hill area in Thuong Long village, Duc Tho commune.
After determining the type and level of danger, the Engineering Battalion of the Military Command of Ha Tinh province mobilized specialized forces and equipment to move the two bombs to the firing range in Toan Luu commune.
Here, authorities are implementing procedures to handle and detonate unexploded ordnance according to regulations, thereby eliminating the safety risk posed by bombs left over from the war.
