Ms. Phung Thi Ve (65 years old) from Cam Lo commune often comes to Dong Ha Regional General Hospital for examination and treatment. And this is not an isolated case, as many people from other neighboring areas such as Gio Linh, Trieu Phong… still seek treatment here.
Ms. Vẽ said: “I chose Dong Ha Regional General Hospital because some people who had been examined and treated there recommended it, saying that the hospital's facilities are spacious and the doctors are enthusiastic and attentive in their examinations and treatments. I have also been here many times and found that to be true.” Ms. Pham Thach Thao, whose maternal family is from Dong Ha and who is currently working in Hanoi, also sent her thanks to the dental clinic and doctors of Dong Ha Regional General Hospital after her leave to receive dental treatment at home.

Dr. Nguyen Chon Vien, Deputy Director of Dong Ha Regional General Hospital, shared: “In recent years, our hospital has continuously improved and enhanced the quality in all aspects, from facilities to equipment and expertise, as well as medical ethics and attitude in healthcare for people in and outside the area. The hospital works on Saturdays and Sundays, which is also an administrative reform to better serve patients. Many patients, upon discharge, have expressed their gratitude or written letters acknowledging the hospital and its medical staff.”
In the first nine months of 2026, Dong Ha Regional General Hospital continued to maintain stable medical examination and treatment activities, meeting the healthcare needs of people in the area and surrounding regions. The total number of outpatient visits to date is nearly 66,000, an increase of over 6,000 compared to the same period in 2025. Of these, over 8,000 were outpatient visits, an increase of nearly 2,100 compared to the same period in 2025; and over 5,000 were inpatient treatments, a decrease of 82 compared to the same period in 2025.
The hospital implements its examination and treatment services in accordance with the functions and duties of a regional general hospital, maintaining the operation of clinical and paraclinical specialties, ensuring timely reception, emergency care, diagnosis, treatment, and patient care. Traditional medicine (TCM) examination and treatment, as well as the combination of TCM and modern medicine, continues to be implemented, contributing to the diversification of treatment methods, rehabilitation, and improved patient care effectiveness.
Surgical procedures are performed according to professional protocols, ensuring patient safety. The hospital focuses on improving professional quality, adhering to regulations on technical procedures, hospital rules, and patient care and monitoring procedures; and effectively carrying out emergency duty, receiving and managing severe and emergency cases according to regulations.

The hospital continues to develop, review, and refine standards and procedures related to inpatient admission to ensure appropriate patient admission, improve treatment effectiveness, and optimize hospital resource utilization. Medical examination and treatment under health insurance are implemented in accordance with regulations, ensuring the rights of health insurance participants, while also strengthening quality control of medical records, technical service prescriptions, and medical examination and treatment costs.
According to Dr. Hoang Quoc Vu, Director of Dong Ha Regional General Hospital, in the last three months of the year, Dong Ha Regional General Hospital will continue to focus on implementing key tasks to improve the quality of medical examination and treatment, meeting the increasingly high healthcare needs of the people; while effectively fulfilling assigned targets and plans, ensuring stable, safe, efficient and sustainable hospital operations.
"We propose that attention be paid to investing in and upgrading medical equipment that has been in use for many years. Many pieces of equipment, invested in between 2005 and 2013, are now outdated, technologically obsolete, and have high repair and replacement costs. Some specialized equipment lacks stable funding for regular maintenance and servicing."
"The facilities in some areas have been in use for many years and need repair and renovation to better meet the increasing demand for medical examination and treatment. Finding replacement parts for old equipment is difficult because the manufacturers have stopped supplying them or no longer have official warranty representatives. Hopefully, these proposals will be addressed soon," shared Dr. Hoang Quoc Vu.
