District Road 92, the section from National Highway 1 to Cong Dan Bridge, is 158 meters long. Currently, the road surface is an average of 3-3.5 meters wide, with an asphalt structure, but it is in a state of disrepair. The road has an open drainage system along its length, but due to clogged sewers and the impact of high tides, localized flooding frequently occurs.
Whenever high tides combine with heavy rain , water overflows onto the road, affecting people's travel and daily lives. The stagnant water also causes environmental pollution, generates foul odors, creates breeding grounds for mosquitoes and pathogens, and negatively impacts the lives of households living along the road.
Given this situation, Trung An ward has determined that investing in upgrading the road is necessary to gradually overcome the flooding problem and improve transportation infrastructure in the area.
The People's Committee of Trung An Ward has implemented the Project to Upgrade District Road 92 (section from National Highway 1 to Cong Dan Bridge) with a total length of 158 m, consisting of 2 sections. Section 1 is approximately 48 m long, with a roadbed width of 5.2 - 5.9 m, sidewalks 0.5 - 1.2 m wide, and a road surface width of 4 m. Section 2 is approximately 110 m long, with a roadbed width of 10.5 m, sidewalks 1.2 m wide on each side, and a road surface width of 7.5 m.
Along with upgrading the road surface, the project also includes the construction of a drainage system running beneath the road with a total length of over 179 meters and the implementation of many related items.
The project has a total investment of over 4.8 billion VND, of which construction costs account for over 3.3 billion VND. Construction began on September 14th and is expected to be completed on February 10th, 2027.
According to reports, the contractor is currently focusing on implementing the project's components. The project's implementation has received the approval and enthusiasm of residents living along the route, especially those households frequently affected by flooding.
The family of Mr. Nguyen Thanh Trieu (residing in Ward 1, Trung An Commune) has a house located along District Road 92. For many years, whenever the tide rises, his family and the surrounding households have been constantly worried about water flooding into their homes.
“We are very happy that the road upgrade project has been implemented. We just hope the project will be completed quickly so that people will worry less whenever there are high tides or heavy rains. With the road raised, my yard will be lower than the road surface, so my family has to consider raising the yard to prevent water from flooding into the house,” Mr. Trieu shared.
Upon completion, District Road 92 will be upgraded comprehensively, including both the road surface and the drainage system, contributing to gradually eliminating the frequently flooded areas in the region. This is also something the local people have been waiting for after many years of living with flooding whenever the tide rises.
