In her welcoming remarks, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi expressed her joy and honor in representing the city's leaders at the Opening Ceremony; and warmly welcomed the delegates, professors, experts, and scientists to Da Nang.

According to Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Da Nang is entering a new phase of development, aiming to build a modern, smart, and livable city; becoming an important center for economy , science, education, healthcare, and tourism in the Central and Central Highlands regions and the whole country.

Throughout its development, the city has identified the health of its citizens as both a goal and a foundation for sustainable development. However, alongside its socio-economic achievements, Da Nang is facing numerous health challenges in the context of an aging population, changing lifestyles, and an increase in non-communicable diseases.

Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi delivered a speech at the Congress.

Among these, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular, renal, and metabolic disorders are increasingly becoming issues that need attention, not only in hospitals but also in the community.

The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee stated that this requires a strong shift from a "treating disease" mindset to a "health management" mindset; from focusing on hospitals to a close integration of prevention, early detection, treatment, and long-term management in the community.

In implementing the policies of the Party and the State, especially Resolution No. 72-NQ/TW of the Politburo on some breakthrough solutions to strengthen the protection, care, and improvement of people's health, Da Nang city has been dedicating increasing attention and resources to the health sector.

The city is focusing on strengthening the grassroots healthcare system; developing human resources; investing in infrastructure and equipment; promoting digital transformation and electronic health records; enhancing health check-ups, screening, and early detection of diseases; and gradually developing specialized and high-tech medical fields.

According to Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, the Da Nang health sector has made remarkable progress in recent years. Many advanced techniques have been implemented right in the city; the medical staff is becoming increasingly mature; and the connection between grassroots healthcare and specialized hospitals is being strengthened.

However, the city is also well aware of the challenges ahead as healthcare needs increase, disease patterns change rapidly, a high-quality workforce needs to be continuously developed, and technology, artificial intelligence, and precision medicine are making rapid advances.

Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee, Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, affirmed that the 20th National Cardiology Congress is not only a major scientific event held in Da Nang but also an opportunity for the city's health sector to learn, update new advances, exchange experiences, and connect with leading experts domestically and internationally.

City leaders presented flowers to congratulate the Congress.

Through this, doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers in the city have the opportunity to access new knowledge and technologies to gradually apply them in patient care practice.

Da Nang City encourages and facilitates lifelong learning, scientific research, innovation, domestic and international cooperation, and the development of specialized techniques among its medical staff.

The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee emphasized that, above all, all advances in medicine must aim to ensure that people receive better prevention, earlier disease detection, more effective treatment, and a better quality of life.

The city expects that the connections formed at the Congress will continue to develop into long-term training programs, research, technology transfer, and professional cooperation, contributing to improving the quality of cardiovascular healthcare for people in Da Nang, the Central region, and the whole country.

The 20th National Congress of Cardiology will take place from October 2nd to 4th, 2026 at the Ariyana International Convention Center in Da Nang, with the theme “Cardiology in the New Era: Integration - Innovation - Implementation”.

The congress is expected to bring together more than 2,000 delegates and experts from Vietnam and abroad, with a scientific program including plenary sessions, thematic sessions, forums, clinical discussions, training and practice sessions, and many updated contents on the field of cardiology, including the application of artificial intelligence to support clinical practice, multidisciplinary management, and training and professional networking activities.
