All seven stocks in the Magnificent Seven group rose in pre-market trading: Tesla gained about 1.2%, Nvidia 0.9%, Microsoft 0.8%, Amazon 0.7%, Alphabet 0.6%, Meta Platforms 0.4%, and Apple 0.1%. Nvidia continued to benefit from expectations of artificial intelligence (AI) demand, with its market capitalization approaching $5.8 trillion.

AMD shares rose about 2% after CEO Lisa Su said demand for the company's chips is expected to remain very strong in the coming years, and that AMD plans to significantly increase its chip supply by 2027. Analysts also raised their price targets for AMD stock, citing growth prospects from demand for chips serving AI, high-performance computing, and agent AI systems.

Constellation Energy's stock rose about 6% after the company and Google announced a large-scale energy deal. Under the 20-year agreement, Constellation will add 890 MW of nuclear power capacity to the PJM grid through capacity upgrades at plants in Illinois, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. The two parties also signed a separate agreement for 2,700 MW of power over a 15-year period. In total, Google has signed a contract to purchase 3,590 MW of power from Constellation, supporting more than $4.3 billion in new investment for the energy company.

The agreement reflects the growing electricity needs of data centers supporting AI. Google, along with many other tech companies, is seeking stable power sources, particularly nuclear power, to meet the rapid expansion of its AI infrastructure in the US.

Option Care Health's stock surged more than 20% following news that McKesson and private equity firm Clayton, Dubilier & Rice (CD&R) had reached an agreement to acquire the company, which provides in-home medication delivery services. The deal, valued at approximately $5.8 billion including debt, will see Option Care shareholders receive $32.05 per share, a 37.1% increase from the pre-deal price. The transaction is expected to be completed in the first half of 2027.

JetBlue Airways shares rose about 2.1% after Citi upgraded its recommendation from "sell" to "neutral." Citi Bank said the earlier sharp drop in the stock partly reflected the difficulties the airline is facing.

Procter & Gamble shares rose about 1.5% after Evercore ISI upgraded its recommendation from "close to the market" to "positive," noting that the consumer goods giant's growth outlook is improving.

The above developments show that technology and AI stocks continue to be the main drivers of the market, while large transactions in the energy and healthcare sectors and adjustments to investment bank recommendations are adding further upward momentum to some individual stocks. The S&P 500 is now only about 0.6% away from its record high, while the Nasdaq set a new record on October 5th.
