As of September 30, 2026, the total registered FDI capital was US$50.36 billion; including newly registered capital, adjusted registered capital, and the value of capital contributions and share purchases by foreign investors; of which, 3,108 newly registered projects were licensed with a registered capital of US$29.24 billion, an increase of 6.2% compared to the same period last year in terms of the number of projects and 2.4 times in terms of registered capital.

The manufacturing and processing industry received the largest amount of newly licensed FDI with registered capital reaching US$13.38 billion, accounting for 45.8% of the total newly registered capital; transportation and warehousing reached US$5.14 billion, accounting for 17.6%; and the remaining sectors accounted for US$10.71 billion, or 36.6%.

Among the 79 countries and territories with newly licensed investment projects in Vietnam during the first nine months of 2026, Singapore was the largest investor with US$9.26 billion, accounting for 31.7% of the total newly registered capital; followed by South Korea with US$5.70 billion, accounting for 19.5%; Luxembourg with US$4.99 billion, accounting for 17.1%; Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (China) with US$3.01 billion, accounting for 10.3%; China with US$2.27 billion, accounting for 7.8%; Japan with US$1.56 billion, accounting for 5.3%; and the Netherlands with US$438.5 million, accounting for 1.5%.

In addition, 948 projects licensed in previous years registered adjustments to their investment capital, increasing it by an additional $14.15 billion, a 25.1% increase compared to the same period last year.

Including both newly registered capital and adjusted registered capital of projects licensed in previous years, FDI registered in the processing and manufacturing industry reached US$21.82 billion, accounting for 50.3% of the total newly registered and increased capital. Real estate production and business reached US$6.94 billion, accounting for 16.0%; and other sectors reached US$14.63 billion, accounting for 33.7%.

Foreign investors registered 2,335 capital contributions and share purchases with a total value of US$6.97 billion, an increase of 44.0% compared to the same period last year.

Notably, realized FDI in Vietnam during the first nine months of the year is estimated at US$21.07 billion, an increase of 12.1% compared to the same period last year. Of this, the processing and manufacturing industry accounted for US$17.40 billion, representing 82.6% of total realized foreign direct investment; real estate business activities reached US$1.59 billion, accounting for 7.5%; and electricity, gas, hot water, steam and air conditioning production and distribution reached US$723.4 million, accounting for 3.4%.

According to the General Statistics Office, in the past nine months, Vietnam's overseas investment included 121 newly licensed projects with a total Vietnamese capital of US$1.28 billion, an increase of 80.9% compared to the same period last year; there were also 32 projects that adjusted their capital, with the adjusted capital increasing by US$1.49 billion, 10.8 times higher.

Overall, Vietnam's total outbound investment (newly granted and adjusted capital) reached US$2.77 billion, 3.3 times higher than the same period last year; of which, transportation and warehousing accounted for US$602.4 million, representing 21.7% of total investment; electricity, gas, hot water, steam and air conditioning production and distribution reached US$585.8 million, accounting for 21.1%; agriculture , forestry and fisheries reached US$516.6 million, accounting for 18.6%; and manufacturing reached US$320.1 million, accounting for 11.5%.

From the beginning of the year until now, 36 countries and territories have received investment from Vietnam. Laos leads with $669 million, accounting for 24.1% of total investment; Cambodia with $486.5 million, accounting for 17.5%; India with $357.2 million, accounting for 12.9%; Indonesia with $340.2 million, accounting for 12.3%...
