Production is shifting from small-scale to integrated production.

Located west of Hanoi, Dan Phuong district was formed by reorganizing the former communes of Thuong Mo, Dan Phuong, Song Phuong, Dong Thap, and Phung town of Dan Phuong district. Prior to this administrative reorganization, the area already had a solid foundation, having been recognized as model new rural areas; infrastructure had received significant investment, the rural landscape had undergone many changes, and the lives of the people had gradually improved.

According to Mr. Nguyen Gia Hien, Secretary of the Party Committee of Dan Phuong commune, in the process of building new rural areas, the locality clearly defines the viewpoint of putting the people at the center, with farmers as the main actors. A livable rural area must first and foremost be a place where people have jobs, income, and opportunities for development right in their homeland. In Dan Phuong, rural economic development is shifting towards strengthening linkages, cooperation, applying science and technology, and increasing the value of products.

A survey conducted in late September 2026 in Dan Phuong commune showed that the commune's rice yield reached over 59 quintals/hectare, exceeding the planned target.

With this orientation, the locality focuses on developing the rural economy by strengthening linkages and cooperation, and promoting the leading role of farmers. The commune encourages farmer members to participate in cooperative models, supports the establishment of cooperatives, cooperative groups, professional associations, and forms linkages along the value chain from production to consumption. Through this, production gradually shifts from small-scale to integrated, contributing to quality control, efficient use of resources, and increased value of agricultural products.

The Cuoi Quy High-Tech Vegetable Cooperative is a prime example. Established in 2018, the cooperative has gradually invested in infrastructure, applied scientific and technical advancements, and built its brand. Currently, the cooperative supplies approximately 2-3 quintals of organic vegetables and fruits to the market daily, generating annual revenue exceeding 1 billion VND. This model not only creates jobs and increases income for local people but also contributes to the development of high-quality local products.

Besides agriculture , traditional craft villages are also an important part of Dan Phuong's economic life. There are 7 concentrated craft village areas in the district, notably Dan Phuong and Song Phuong villages. In Dai Phung woodworking village, the carpentry craft has been maintained for generations, providing jobs and income for the people. Investment in machinery and improved productivity and product quality have helped the traditional craft adapt to new demands.

That is also the foundation of a livable countryside: people can build livelihoods, develop the economy, and continue to be connected to their homeland through the very professions formed on the land of their ancestors.

Greener, cleaner, and more modern

While the economy generates resources, the environment and landscape directly create the quality of life. This is an area where Dan Phuong is strongly promoting the role of the community.

In the first six months of the year, villages in the area organized more than 800 environmental sanitation campaigns; maintained the "Battery House" and "Green and Civilized Waste Station" models; and residents invested in more than 900 covered trash cans. 100% of household waste was collected and transported daily. The villages also planted more than 500m² of flowers and grass, painted 120m² of murals, whitewashed and repainted 1,260m² of fences, and mobilized approximately 250 million VND from social contributions to renovate public facilities.

Following these achievements, the People's Committee of Dan Phuong commune is seeking opinions on a plan to launch the "Dan Phuong - A Livable Countryside" emulation movement for the last six months of 2026. Accordingly, the movement will be implemented in 12 villages, focusing on general environmental sanitation, landscape beautification, tree planting, flower gardens, building bright, green, clean, and beautiful roads, maintaining security and order, and sorting waste at source.

According to Nguyen Thi Quynh Lam, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Dan Phuong commune, the commune plans to implement 14 models, including 2 at the commune level and 12 at the village level, such as eliminating garbage hotspots, building model dikes, flower-lined roads, security cameras, and solar-powered streetlights. These models aim to create a significant transformation in the landscape, while also fostering civilized habits and lifestyles and enhancing the self-governance awareness of the people.

Along with the environment, digital transformation is becoming an integral part of Dan Phuong's new look. From the "AI Training Race" movement aimed at improving digital skills to the "Cashless Digital Market" model at Phung Market, technology is gradually becoming part of people's daily lives.

The "Digital Village" model is integrated into the iHanoi Digital Citizen platform, with official community groups for 12 villages, creating additional channels for disseminating information and policies, and receiving feedback from residents. Digital transformation is therefore not just a matter for government agencies but is gradually becoming an integral part of community life.

Based on that foundation, the "Dan Phuong - A Livable Countryside" movement is defined not simply as a landscape competition. It's a way for the locality to mobilize the strength of the entire political system and the people to build a civilized, safe, and friendly living environment. Before implementation, the commune consulted with departments, agencies, socio-political organizations, and villages to finalize criteria and create consensus.

In Dan Phuong, a "livable countryside" is not only measured by new roads or modern buildings. It is also a place where people have stable livelihoods, agricultural products are valuable, traditional crafts are continued, the environment is preserved, and technology better serves people's lives.
