On October 2nd, at the close of trading, the VN-Index fell 11.59 points to 1,737.71 points; the HNX-Index fell 1.91 points to 266.75 points. The overall market leaned towards selling pressure, with 436 stocks declining and only 259 rising. The VN30 basket recorded 22 declining stocks and only 5 rising stocks.

Liquidity improved compared to the previous session. The trading volume on the HOSE reached over 615 million shares (over 14,400 billion VND), and on the HNX reached over 38 million shares (over 578.3 billion VND).

In the afternoon session, the VN-Index briefly recovered to near the reference level thanks to renewed buying demand. However, selling pressure remained dominant, causing the index to reverse and fall.

Stocks like GAS, TCB, LPB, and BID had the most negative impact, deducting over 4.77 points from the VN-Index. Conversely, VIC, HDB, BVH, and MWG helped support the index, contributing 7.54 points. On the HNX exchange, the index was negatively affected by THD (down 7.63%), MBS (down 1.92%), VIF (down 5.41%), and SHS (down 2.26%).

Red dominated most sectors. Energy saw the sharpest decline at 2.35% (primarily driven by BSR , PLX, PVS, and PVD); utilities fell 1.89%; and the industrial sector declined 1.65%. The only bright spot was the real estate sector, which gained points thanks to gains from VIC, KSF, and NVL.

Foreign investors maintained their strong net selling trend. On the HOSE, they sold a net of over VND 3,283.32 billion, focusing on PNJ (VND 1,264 billion), HDB (VND 961.76 billion), VIC (VND 188.1 billion), and TCB (VND 146.89 billion). On the HNX, foreign investors sold a net of over VND 13.61 billion, mainly in PVS, CEO, TNG, and SHS.
