Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra has approved the plan for the Lunar New Year holiday in 2027 (Year of the Goat) to be 7 consecutive days, the National Day holiday to be 4 days, and the Vietnamese Culture Day holiday in 2026 to be 1 day.
The information was conveyed by the Government Office in document No. 10065/VPCP-KGVX dated October 2, 2026, regarding the holiday schedule for some occasions in 2026 and 2027, based on the proposal of the Ministry of Interior.
Specifically, for the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Goat (Dinh Mui), the holiday period will begin on Thursday, February 4, 2027 (the 28th day of the 12th lunar month of the Year of the Horse, Binh Ngo), and end on Wednesday, February 10, 2027 (the 5th day of the 1st lunar month of the Year of the Goat, Dinh Mui). The total holiday period is 7 days.
For the 2027 National Day holiday, civil servants, public employees, and workers will have a continuous 4-day break, from Thursday, September 2nd to Sunday, September 5th, 2027. This period includes the 2 days of the officially mandated National Day holiday and 2 days off per week.
Another item approved was the plan for the 2026 Vietnamese Culture Day holiday. Accordingly, November 24, 2026 will be a one-day holiday for officials, civil servants, and public employees.
The above options were approved by Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra after reviewing the submissions from the Ministry of Interior , including Submission No. 10033/TTr-BNV dated September 11, 2026 and Submission No. 10137/TTr-BNV dated September 14, 2026.
The Deputy Prime Minister assigned the Minister of Home Affairs the responsibility of notifying administrative agencies, public service units, political organizations, socio-political organizations, businesses, and employees about the holiday schedule as prescribed.
To ensure uninterrupted public service, agencies and units need to proactively develop plans for assigning personnel on duty and arranging work appropriately, ensuring continuous handling of tasks during holidays and Tet (Lunar New Year).
In addition, ministries, departments, and localities are required to implement specific solutions to encourage businesses, organizations, and individuals to maintain production and business activities and develop socio-economic activities. Ensuring the supply of goods and services, controlling price stability and market conditions, and balancing labor supply and demand should be emphasized before, during, and after the holidays.
