Max Verstappen led in FP1 at the Bahrain Grand Prix held in Sepang, Malaysia . The Red Bull driver completed the fastest lap with a time of 1 minute 37.520 seconds, 0.383 seconds faster than George Russell of Mercedes. Isack Hadjar finished third.

This marks F1's return to Sepang since 2017. The Malaysian circuit was reinstated to the schedule after the Bahrain race was relocated due to the situation in the Middle East. Drivers also need to re-familiarize themselves with the track after many years of not competing there.

In FP2, Ferrari's Charles Leclerc set the fastest time. Verstappen remained in the leading group, while Red Bull showed remarkable speed on the first day at Sepang.

Hot and humid weather conditions added further challenges for the teams. Tire durability was also a particular concern for drivers and teams as the Sepang circuit returned to the F1 calendar.

Verstappen won at Sepang the last time F1 was held in Malaysia in 2017. After nine years, the return of this circuit adds further excitement to the 2026 Bahrain Grand Prix.
