On October 3rd, China's railway industry projected serving approximately 18.9 million passengers, while adding 910 extra trains to meet travel demand, especially on inter-provincial routes and those leading to popular tourist destinations.

This year's National Day holiday in China, running from October 1st to 7th, continues to be one of the busiest travel periods of the year.

According to China Central Television (CCTV), on October 2nd, the number of road travelers was estimated to exceed 280 million. Traffic volume on expressways remained high. The railway sector alone is estimated to have served approximately 20.4 million passengers.

Other forms of tourism also attracted large numbers of visitors. According to CCTV, interprovincial tourist ferry routes on the main channel of the Yangtze River are expected to serve approximately 36,900 passengers throughout the holiday period, averaging 5,300 passengers per day, a 15.22% increase compared to the previous year.

In Shenzhen, Guangdong province, the number of people crossing land border checkpoints is expected to peak on October 3rd, with approximately 1.09 million people entering and exiting in both directions.

The developments on the third day of the holiday show that the demand for leisure and sightseeing among Chinese people this year tends to be more diverse and widespread, rather than being concentrated in a single peak at the beginning of the holiday as in previous years. The flow of people is no longer primarily focused on leaving major Chinese cities during the early part of the holiday.

Instead, travel demand is now tending towards regional tours, short getaways, city exploration , and travel between nearby tourist destinations.

According to Chinese media outlets, the number of people and vehicles at major shopping malls, entertainment areas, and tourist attractions remains high. This activity is expected to boost revenue in the tourism, food and beverage, retail, and entertainment sectors, thereby contributing to increased domestic purchasing power.

China's Ministry of Transport forecasts that during the seven-day National Day holiday, the total number of inter-regional trips across the country will reach approximately 2.13 billion, averaging 300 million trips per day, about 1.7 times higher than on a normal day.
