According to the Straits Times , Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has instructed the authorities of all 76 provinces and cities to expedite the drainage of reservoirs and canal systems as the country prepares for a new round of heavy rains , forecast to occur from October 4 to 7.

Presiding over a meeting of the National Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command on October 3rd, Anutin convened deputy prime ministers, cabinet ministers, Ministry of Interior officials, and provincial governors to establish emergency plans and review ongoing flood response operations.

To address the dual threat of heavy rain and high tides, the Thai Prime Minister has instructed authorities to deploy heavy machinery, flow-pumping equipment, and high-capacity pumps to high-risk areas to quickly clear accumulated water.

In addition, President Anutin requested that provincial governors widely disseminate information about the government's public disaster insurance program to the public.

This program provides direct financial assistance with payments of up to 100,000 baht (approximately US$2,983) per household affected by floods, storms, or earthquakes, helping affected people access government relief in a timely manner.

In areas experiencing flooding or at high risk, authorities have been ordered to establish emergency response command centers at all administrative levels.

These centers will coordinate joint operations between the military, police, local authorities, and charitable organizations. To prevent burnout among frontline forces in hotspots, units are required to implement a strict shift rotation system.

According to Thai PBS, specifically for Bangkok, the Prime Minister instructed the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) to expedite the drainage of water into river systems, and warned against worrying too much about food distribution to affected residents, as this task is being handled collaboratively by various government agencies, volunteer teams, and the private sector.

Emphasizing the government's determination to stand alongside the people in overcoming the crisis, the Thai Prime Minister affirmed that the command center would hold daily meetings to assess the flood situation.

Immediately after the meeting, President Anutin and his delegation traveled to Nakhon Sawan and Chainat provinces to personally inspect the actual water levels and assess risk mitigation options along the Chao Phraya River basin.

At the same time, the Thai Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation maintained a 24/7 monitoring system nationwide and deployed mobile water purification vehicles, field kitchens, and rescue boats to affected areas.
