According to the plan, Long Thanh Airport will officially begin partial commercial operation on December 24, 2026. There are less than three months left until then. To date, the overall project has reached over 80% completion, with many basic packages finished. However, some items are still progressing slowly, requiring contractors to accelerate construction without compromising quality and operational safety.

In Package 4.8, which includes the port's internal transport system and technical infrastructure, construction output has reached over 80%. However, the remaining work is facing significant pressure as asphalt prices have doubled compared to the contract, stone supplies from quarries in Dong Nai are scarce, while the disbursement rate has only reached 54.6% of the contract value.

On the construction site, more than 2,000 officials and engineers, along with nearly 500 pieces of equipment, are being mobilized to the maximum extent to accelerate progress.

Colonel Khuong Tat Thang, Deputy General Director of Truong Son Construction Corporation, said that construction units need to have payment issues resolved during the final stages, especially with the high prices of materials, supplies, and fuel. Resolving these obstacles promptly will create favorable conditions for the units to be determined to complete the project by December 2026.

Inside the passenger terminal, more than 30 modern technical systems are being installed, programmed, and tested in a coordinated manner. The investor must also flexibly coordinate to handle conflicts over the underground construction site between the four contract packages that are all on the critical path.

Mr. Nguyen Le Dong, Director of the Long Thanh International Airport Project Management Board, said that for the technical systems and equipment, implementation requires qualified foreign experts. The investor is closely directing contractors to create matrix tables to integrate the systems according to the approved sequence, level, and design.

In the final stages, units are focusing on accelerating construction progress while strictly controlling quality and safety requirements. The trial operation milestone in December 2026 is identified as a crucial step for the Long Thanh International Airport project to move towards the goal of bringing a portion of the facility into commercial operation as planned.
