Amidst the Thang Long Imperial Citadel are paintings created by Vietnamese children carrying messages of love, sharing, and friendship between Vietnam and Cuba, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the birth of leader Fidel Castro.

The event involved many young Vietnamese artists to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of leader Fidel Castro (August 13, 1926 - August 13, 2026).

Nguyen Dang Hai Nam (16 years old), the artist who painted the portrait of leader Fidel Castro, said that he had the opportunity to learn about Fidel Castro after a journalist gave him a book about the Cuban leader. The book became the inspiration for him and his friends to form a painting group and create the artworks for this event.

According to Nguyen Dang Hai Nam , the drawings of young children can become a way for Vietnamese children to send their feelings to their friends in Cuba, even though the two countries are half a world apart.

“Each painting is not just a work of art, but also a way for young Vietnamese people to learn about and appreciate Cuba even more. I hope that small activities like this can inspire more young people to care more about the culture, people, and friendship between the two countries,” Nguyen Dang Hai Nam shared.

At the event, the art space allowed children to freely create, choose colors, and express their feelings through painting. These activities at the booth not only provided children with more experiences in art but also created opportunities for them to show their compassion through everyday actions.

The program also provides opportunities for children to freely create and interact, while fostering empathy and sharing through art, contributing to strengthening the bond between children of the two countries and continuing the Vietnam-Cuba friendship that has been cultivated over many generations.

Amidst the Thang Long Imperial Citadel World Heritage site, the small brushstrokes of Vietnamese children are adding shades of love, reaching out to Cuban children half a world away from Vietnam.

Through painting and sharing activities, the event not only showcased the creativity but also the affection of Vietnamese children for their peers in Cuba, while contributing to spreading the message of solidarity and friendship between the people of the two countries.

The event took place in anticipation of the 100th anniversary of the birth of leader Fidel Castro (August 13, 1926 - August 13, 2026). It was also an opportunity for the younger generations of both countries to continue connecting through meaningful and humane exchange activities.

Each completed painting is not only a naive and pure work of art by the children, but also becomes a bridge connecting emotions and contributing to the cultivation of the special friendship between Vietnam and Cuba.
