On September 17th, a baby girl weighing 2.8 kg was born via Cesarean section at the Zhumadian Central Hospital in Henan Province, central China .

The mother, identified as surnamed Zhang, expressed her joy: "I am so happy! I have both a son and a daughter. My life is so fulfilling. The two children will have each other as companions and won't feel lonely."

Her two-year-old son, affectionately called Guoguo by the family, was also eager to meet his baby sister. At the hospital, he sang a familiar nursery rhyme to welcome her.

Zhang said she wasn't bothered by the criticism about having children at an older age and believed she was still young. "In my eyes, I'm only 28 years old. I believe I can live a long time," she said.

Zhang believes his good health is related to his parents' longevity: "My father passed away at the age of 100, and my mother is now 94, with good eyesight and hearing. She can even climb stairs by herself. I believe I am as healthy as my parents. I believe that by the time I die, my children will be grown up and have their own families."

It is unclear whether Ms. Truong's two pregnancies were related to in-vitro fertilization (IVF).

Obstetrician Zhang Hualien, who works at the hospital, said: "She gave birth to a son at the age of 58 and a daughter at the age of 60. Pregnancy at this age is very rare in China."

According to the doctor, Mrs. Truong was in a more relaxed state of mind during her second pregnancy compared to her first.

During her pregnancy, Mrs. Truong continued to prepare meals and handle household chores herself. Initially, her husband had concerns about their decision to have another child due to his wife's age. However, Mrs. Truong reassured him by saying, "I'm fine, I can do it."

Previously, the couple only had one child, like many other families in China. Tragically, this child passed away in 2022.
