The Khanh Le Pass, connecting Nha Trang and Da Lat (Khanh Hoa and Lam Dong provinces) on National Highway 27C, has a steep, winding terrain with a high embankment on one side and a deep ravine on the other, causing many locals and tourists to worry when traveling on it, especially during the rainy season.

Following the heavy rains and floods, many sections of the route have been damaged by landslides, posing a potential risk to traffic safety.

The terrain of Khanh Le Pass is very rugged, with steep slopes, and landslides here make remediation very difficult.

A major landslide on Khanh Le Pass has been cleared, however, the high mountains in the area mean that the risk of further landslides when heavy rains arrive remains.

At this hairpin bend, there were two serious landslides in 2024 and 2025, cutting off the pass, and the debris has been cleared. However, the embankment construction remains unfinished.

Mr. Nguyen Van Toan , a driver transporting vegetables and flowers from Da Lat to Nha Trang, said that he currently travels up and down this pass twice a day. "Every time I cross the pass in the early morning and late evening, it's very difficult to see because of the heavy fog. There are sections with large landslides that haven't been repaired yet, and I'm scared to go through them because I don't know when they might collapse again," Mr. Toan said.

Statistics show that nine landslide locations on the Khanh Le pass are currently being addressed by relevant authorities. At many landslide sites, such as at Km44+500 and Km44+920, contractors are clearing debris from the slopes; drilling holes, installing anchor bolts to reinforce the slopes, and deploying a rockfall prevention system.

At the landslide site near the foot of Khanh Le Pass in Nam Khanh Vinh commune, the contractor is constructing a reinforced concrete retaining wall on a system of one-meter diameter bored piles. To date, 26 out of a total of 48 piles have been completed, and the foundation and body of the retaining wall are continuing to be constructed.

Iron piles were drilled into the cliff face to secure the rocks together.

Construction work on the embankment at a landslide site on the pass is unfinished. Rocks and soil lie scattered on the mountainside.

According to assessments, landslide remediation efforts along the route have not yet been intensified. The Department of Construction of Khanh Hoa province reports that the repair project for National Highway 27C has a total investment of nearly 125 billion VND, with a construction contract value of over 105.5 billion VND, to be implemented from June 8th to October 5th, 2026. Nine points are currently being reinforced, including Km26+320, Km43+300, Km44+500, Km44+920, Km53+900, Km55+000, Km55+150, Km61+300, and Km61+700, with progress currently reaching 40-50% of the total volume.

According to the Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Construction, the investor and related units are regularly inspecting and urging the contractor to increase manpower and machinery, focusing on construction at key locations on the Khanh Le pass. The site is also being reviewed to adjust technical solutions accordingly, ensuring progress without compromising construction safety or traffic safety.

People traveling on this route hope that the landslide remediation work will be completed soon, ensuring smooth traffic flow during the upcoming rainy season.
