Vietnamese artist My Uyen brings "Illusion" to the Korean International Arts Festival.

According to information provided by artist My Uyen, these were the 23rd Daegu Healing Performing Arts Festival at the Dalseo Arts Center and the 64th Busan Arts Festival.

My Uyen and her connection with Korean theater

This is the third time artist My Uyen has had the opportunity to participate in exchange activities related to theater in South Korea.

For the first time, she and the cast of the play "Comrade" performed together. The Ho Chi Minh City Theatre Association will participate in the Busan International Theatre Festival in April 2025.

In September 2025, she will play the role of General Jang Han Sang's wife in the historical musical "General Jang Han Sang" in South Korea.

For My Uyen, these were extremely valuable opportunities that she always cherished. Through them, she learned a lot about how theater works in other countries. From that, she gained experience that, when she returned to her "home theater" 5B, she had more effective organizational methods at the place where she is the leader.

As part of this tour, the musical "Illusion" will have a performance on October 14th at the Healing Performing Arts Festival in Daegu. It will also have two performances at the Baekyang Cultural and Arts Center in Busan on October 16th and 17th as part of the 64th Busan Arts Festival.

Vietnamese musical theater reaches the world.

According to the organizers, the two festivals bring together art groups from many countries, with the aim of using the stage as a means of healing, dialogue, and connecting communities through sharing and hope.

The festival hopes that we will present a work that represents the creativity and contemporary nature of Vietnamese urban life, while still remaining within the mainstream of life and artistic tastes in Korea and the world.

Previously, "Illusion" (written and directed by Chinh Ba) was highly praised at the 6th International Experimental Theatre Festival 2025 in Ho Chi Minh City. The play won a silver medal and brought home individual gold medals for artist My Uyen, and silver medals for artists Tuan Kiet, Tran Dai Chinh, and Quan Phuc Toan.

In its international debut in South Korea, the 90-minute film "Illusion" features artists My Uyen, Ho Hoang Ngoc, Tran Tuan Kiet, Tran Dai Chinh, Quan Phuc Toan, Vu Thien Bao, and Tong Lien.

Additionally, the cast includes three South Korean actors: Lee Tae Kyu, Nam Tae In, and Lee So Hyun.
