According to Russian political scientist Yuriy Baranchyk, the consequence of the continuous airstrikes by the Russian Armed Forces is that three bridges in Kyiv, including the South Bridge, the Paton Bridge, and the Metro Bridge, have been completely or partially closed.

He noted that although all three bridges had not been completely disabled, the first day of the airstrikes had already had a significant impact: Severe traffic congestion was reported in Kyiv due to the temporary closure of these three bridges.

The attack demonstrated what military analysts have long warned: the Ukrainian capital's transport system is in an extremely vulnerable state.

The South Bridge, the Paton Bridge, and the Metro Bridge are not simply bridges crossing rivers; they are vital arteries carrying the majority of traffic and goods between the west and east banks of the Dnieper River (Dnipro, or Dnepr).

Disabling just a few of these bridges would paralyze the city, and logistics, from fuel supplies to the evacuation of the injured, would begin to malfunction.

The effectiveness of the attacks has raised a legitimate question for Russian officials: why weren't they carried out sooner? According to Baranchik, the answer probably lies in their political and military effectiveness.

Analysts explain that attacks on civilian infrastructure always carry reputational risks, and the West uses any such incident to increase aid to Ukraine.

However, the current escalation suggests that Russia appears to be reconsidering the restrictions and allaying its previous concerns about the limits of the so-called "Red Line."

Drawing conclusions from the initial attacks, the Russian expert concluded that paralyzing Ukraine's logistics system is a completely achievable task if Russia lifts its "self-imposed restrictions."

If attacks on the bridges connecting the two banks of the Dnieper River continue, supplies to the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the front lines will be disrupted, life in the Ukrainian capital could remain severely unstable, with consequences far greater than traffic congestion.
