Manchester City has officially appealed the Premier League's independent committee ruling on its financial case. According to a Premier League announcement on October 2nd, the club has submitted its appeal to the Chairman of the Judiciary Committee.
The case involves allegations of violations of Premier League financial regulations over a period spanning nearly a decade. According to Reuters, an independent committee previously concluded that Manchester City had committed serious breaches of the league's financial rules.
The Premier League stated that the hearing by the Independent Appeals Panel would be conducted in accordance with regulations and kept confidential until the results are authorized to be published.
Manchester City have rejected the unfavorable findings and initiated appeals. This opens a new legal phase in the years-long case and could affect the Premier League's subsequent handling of the matter.
The case has attracted particular attention because Manchester City has been one of the top clubs in English football for many years. The outcome of the appeal will be announced according to the Premier League's procedures and the Independent Appeals Board.
