TPO - On the afternoon of October 6th, An Giang province held a ceremony to offer incense in commemoration of National Hero Nguyen Trung Truc, as part of the traditional festival celebrating the 158th anniversary of his sacrifice (1868-2026). National Hero Nguyen Trung Truc was one of the exemplary leaders of the anti-French resistance movement in Southern Vietnam in the late 19th century. His name is associated with patriotism, unwavering determination in fighting foreign invaders, and he has become a symbol of national heroism.

Attending the incense offering ceremony were former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung; General Le Hong Anh - former Standing Member of the Party Central Committee; along with leaders of An Giang province, departments, agencies, localities, armed forces and delegations. At the historical and cultural site of the tomb and temple of Nguyen Trung Truc in Rach Gia ward, delegates laid flowers and offered incense to commemorate the national hero Nguyen Trung Truc, expressing their gratitude to the hero who bravely fought and sacrificed himself in the struggle against French colonialism to protect his homeland and country. National hero Nguyen Trung Truc was one of the exemplary leaders of the anti-French resistance movement in Southern Vietnam in the latter half of the 19th century. His name is associated with patriotism, unwavering determination to fight foreign invaders, and he has become a symbol of national heroism.
The incense offering ceremony is one of the main activities within the framework of the traditional festival commemorating the 158th anniversary of the sacrifice of national hero Nguyen Trung Truc (1868 - 2026), contributing to preserving and promoting the historical, cultural values and patriotic traditions of the Southern region.
Following the memorial ceremony, the delegation offered incense at the Memorial Temple for Heroes and Martyrs of An Giang Province. On the same day, the People's Committee of An Giang Province held a ceremony to light incense at the monument marking the location where national hero Nguyen Trung Truc was executed by the French colonialists in 1868.
