Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Nguyen Long Bien stated that, after the merger, Khanh Hoa province has a vast development space with many potentials and advantages in the areas of sea, tourism, industry, energy, and international trade. In the first nine months of 2026, the province's socio -economic development continued to achieve many positive results; GRDP is estimated to increase by 11.21%, ranking 8th out of 34 provinces and cities nationwide and leading the South Central Coast and Central Highlands regions. Tourism continues to be a bright spot with over 20.4 million visitors and revenue reaching nearly 68,000 billion VND.

Comrade Nguyen Long Bien emphasized that, building on the foundation of the special, close, and loyal friendship between Vietnam and Laos, the relationship between Khanh Hoa province and Champasak province has been continuously nurtured, strengthened, and developed well over the past 20 years, becoming a bridge connecting the feelings and cooperation between the people of the two provinces. Exchanges of delegations at all levels have been maintained regularly and are becoming increasingly in-depth; cultural and artistic exchanges are vibrant; specialized cooperation continues in the fields of justice, education and training, and agriculture ; and economic cooperation is gradually expanding with businesses in both provinces. Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Phimphon Phandanouvong thanked the leaders of Khanh Hoa province for their warm welcome. He emphasized that the relationship between Champasak and Khanh Hoa provinces has been continuously nurtured, strengthened, and is developing well, becoming a bridge connecting the feelings and cooperation between the people of the two provinces. Comrade Phimphon Phandanouvong congratulated Khanh Hoa province on the impressive results achieved after the merger, which reflects the high efforts and determination of the Party Committee, government, and people of the province. At the ceremony, leaders of the two localities exchanged views and signed a Memorandum of Cooperation for the period 2026-2031. Accordingly, both sides agreed to continue maintaining and effectively developing the areas of cooperation already implemented; and to expand cooperation in accordance with the potential, strengths, and needs of each locality, especially in the fields of economics, agriculture, trade, and tourism. Both sides will also strengthen information dissemination, propaganda, people-to-people exchanges, cultural and artistic activities, and youth cooperation; and coordinate the implementation of activities leading up to the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation in 2027.
