On October 4th, the Lam Dong Provincial Civil Defense Command issued a quick report on the impact and damage caused by natural disasters from October 2nd to 4th in the province. Although there were no casualties, the floods inundated hundreds of hectares of crops, and dozens of households and tourists had to be evacuated to safe areas.

Specifically, following continuous heavy rains over the past three days, 55 houses belonging to households in B'Lao ward, Cat Tien commune, Cat Tien 2 commune, and Bao Lam 2 commune were flooded and damaged. The affected households were assisted in evacuating to safe areas, and after the water receded, residents returned to clean up their homes and resume their normal lives.

Notably, at the Doi Dep Tourist Area (B'Lao ward), flooding also inundated the guesthouse area, forcing 30 tourists to evacuate to safety. The floods also caused collapses, landslides, and cracks in some sections of fences and damaged electronic gates… initial estimated damage is approximately 4.5 billion VND. Similarly, the floods over the past three days have caused damage to infrastructure, landslides, and road collapses in Cat Tien 2 commune, B'Lao ward, and Xuan Huong ward - Da Lat .

Agricultural production also suffered significant damage due to the floods. Specifically, as of the afternoon of October 4th, Lam Dong province recorded 323 hectares of flooded crops; of which, Cat Tien 2 commune had approximately 243 hectares of flooded crops; Cat Tien commune had 74 hectares of flooded rice; and Langbiang ward - Da Lat had about 6 hectares of flooded roses and vegetables.

According to the Lam Dong Provincial Civil Defense Command, in the past 24 hours alone, several localities in the province experienced moderate to heavy rainfall, with some areas receiving very heavy rain. Forecasts indicate continued rain in many communes and wards, increasing the risk of landslides in areas with steep terrain and weak geological foundations, and flooding in low-lying areas.

In light of the above situation, the Lam Dong Provincial Civil Defense Command continues to maintain a 24/7 duty roster, closely monitoring the weather situation and developments in the area, proactively informing, notifying, and warning local authorities and people in a timely manner to prevent and avoid damage; simultaneously deploying forces to inspect and review key areas to implement response measures and minimize damage; mobilizing forces and equipment to clear and clean roads affected by landslides... to ensure traffic safety; and continuing to monitor and direct the owners of irrigation and hydropower reservoirs in the province to operate the reservoirs according to the reservoir operation procedures approved by competent authorities to ensure the safety of the structures and reduce flooding in downstream areas.
