The Khanh Binh land border gate is located at the end of National Highway 91C, directly connecting to the Chrey Thom border gate in Kandal province via the Long Binh - Chrey Thom bridge. The Khanh Binh border gate holds a crucial position on the trade route from An Giang to Phnom Penh, Cambodia, a distance of approximately 76 km by road. With increasingly improved transportation infrastructure, the area has seen a vibrant flow of goods, vehicles, and trade activities.
Since 2016, the authorities of An Giang and Kandal provinces have jointly proposed upgrading the Khanh Binh - Chrey Thom border gate to an international border gate. A significant milestone was reached on April 24, 2017, when the Long Binh - Chrey Thom bridge was inaugurated and put into use, creating a direct transportation link between the two provinces and significantly shortening the journey from the border area to the capital Phnom Penh.

Following the upgrading of the Chrey Thom border gate on the Kandal province side to an international border gate, on August 7, 2026, the Vietnamese Government issued Resolution No. 219/NQ-CP, approving the upgrading of the Khanh Binh main border gate in An Giang province to the Khanh Binh international road border gate. This not only contributes to completing the legal framework but also concretizes bilateral commitments, creating a basis for both sides to standardize the type of border gate and officially inaugurate the Khanh Binh - Chrey Thom international border gate pair.
Following the upgrade of the Khanh Binh border gate, An Giang province now has four international border gates bordering Kandal, Takeo, and Kampot provinces: Tinh Bien, Ha Tien, Vinh Xuong, and Khanh Binh. Khanh Binh – Chrey Thom is the second international border gate pair between An Giang and Kandal, after Vinh Xuong – Kaam Samnor.
The Khanh Binh International Border Gate boasts a prominent geographical location and excellent transportation connectivity via both road and waterway. Its strategic location, along with its planned connection to the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway, creates significant potential for the development of border trade, logistics, and tourism . Leveraging these advantages, An Giang province anticipates that the opening of the Khanh Binh - Chrey Thom international border gate will provide new impetus for development in several areas.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Kuoch Chamroeun, Governor of Kandal Province, Cambodia, said: Currently, Kandal Province and An Giang Province have two pairs of international border gates: Kaom Samnor – Vinh Xuong and Chrey Thom – Khanh Binh. These are not only important gateways for trade but also bridges of friendship, contributing to promoting economic and trade cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between the two provinces and two countries.
“In the first nine months of 2026, the two border crossings handled a large volume of passengers, with over 134,000 entries into Cambodia and nearly 130,000 exits to Vietnam. Notably, visitors came from more than 50 countries, demonstrating the increasingly important role of border crossings in regional connectivity,” Mr. Kuoch Chamroeun informed.
The Governor of Kandal Province, Cambodia, highly appreciated the close cooperation between the two provinces in ensuring security, preventing cross-border crime, and building a peaceful and friendly border. In the future, Kandal Province is committed to further strengthening information exchange, coordinating crime prevention, preventing illegal immigration, and facilitating transportation and exchange of goods and agricultural products across the border.
The leaders of Kandal province believe that the opening ceremony of the Khanh Binh International Road Border Gate will open a new chapter in the cooperative relationship between Kandal and An Giang, contributing to promoting socio-economic development and bringing practical benefits to the people of both provinces.

The Khanh Binh International Road Border Gate in An Giang province plays a crucial role in connecting trade between Vietnam and Cambodia.
Speaking at the announcement ceremony, Mr. Ho Van Mung, Chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang province, affirmed: The Khanh Binh international border gate will become a key transit point for goods from the Mekong Delta and the whole country to the international market of Cambodia as well as other ASEAN countries. An Giang province aims to strive to bring the total value of import and export goods through the Khanh Binh – Chrey Thom border gate pair to approximately 1.2 billion US dollars by 2030.
“The Khanh Binh International Border Gate will facilitate the formation of interconnected international tourism routes linking An Giang, the Mekong Delta provinces with Phnom Penh, and connecting with countries in the region. At the same time, it will promote border trade development, strongly attract investors to the An Giang Border Economic Zone, create thousands of new jobs in service, trade, and logistics sectors, contributing to the shift in labor structure and increasing income for border residents…,” Mr. Mung informed.
To ensure the Khánh Bình - Chrey Thom border gate operates effectively, the Chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang province requested that the relevant agencies of both countries, especially An Giang province and Kandal province, create favorable conditions for immigration, import and export activities, and the exchange of goods by border residents.
Authorities on both sides need to continue to ensure transparency and simplify procedures, facilitating the passage of people, vehicles, and goods through border crossings; implement tax, fee, and levy policies in accordance with the laws of each country; and at the same time strictly ensure national defense, security, and border management requirements.

Mr. Nguyen Hoang Hai, Deputy Chairman of the National Border Committee - Ministry of Foreign Affairs (on the right), presents the Government Resolution approving the upgrading of Khanh Binh main border gate to an international road border gate to the leaders of An Giang province.
