"As time goes on, the picture becomes clearer: The attacker was indoctrinated with extremist Islamic ideology. He came to bring down the plane with all the passengers on board," Netanyahu alleged.
"We are investigating whether he was sent, and whoever sent him will pay a very heavy price," Prime Minister Netanyahu said of the attacker, the co-pilot on the ill-fated FlyDubai flight.
The plane, carrying 174 people, was forced to make an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia after the co-pilot apparently stabbed the captain. The circumstances of the incident and the attacker's motives are being investigated in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where the two pilots were transferred.
Netanyahu did not name any country that might be behind the incident.

On October 1st, US President Donald Trump stated that he had “heard” Iran was involved and that the country would be “severely punished” if that were true. He offered no evidence to support this claim.
Meanwhile, FlyDubai announced on October 2nd that a full official investigation into the incident is underway. “It is important that we allow this process to establish the truth,” CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith said in a statement.
A senior UAE official said on October 2nd that the incident was an "act of terrorism," while praising the captain for helping prevent the plane from crashing after being attacked by the co-pilot. UAE presidential advisor Anwar Gargash stated on social media that Captain Smit Machchhar, an Indian citizen, was a "true hero" and deserved "all the praise."
