According to statistics released by the General Statistics Office ( Ministry of Finance ), in September, nearly 11,600 new businesses were established nationwide with a registered capital of nearly 175,800 billion VND and nearly 75,500 registered employees. This represents a decrease of 4.9% in the number of businesses, a decrease of 7.2% in registered capital, but an increase of 25.0% in the number of employees compared to the previous month.
Each month, 24,900 businesses enter the market.
Compared to the same period last year, there was a 31.1% decrease in the number of businesses, a 6.0% increase in registered capital, and a 22.2% decrease in the number of employees.
The average registered capital of newly established businesses in September reached VND 15.2 billion, a decrease of 2.4% compared to the previous month but an increase of 53.9% compared to the same period last year.
In addition, 8,700 businesses nationwide resumed operations, a decrease of 8.1% compared to the previous month and a decrease of 18.9% compared to the same period in 2025.

In the first nine months of 2026, nearly 149,700 new businesses were registered nationwide, with a total registered capital of 1.88 trillion VND and a total registered workforce of over 733,100 employees. This represents a 3.2% increase in the number of businesses, a 32.7% increase in registered capital, but a 16.1% decrease in the number of employees compared to the same period last year.
The average registered capital of a newly established enterprise in the first nine months of 2026 reached VND 12.6 billion, an increase of 28.5% compared to the same period in 2025.
The total registered capital injected into the economy in the first nine months of 2026 reached over 5 trillion VND, an increase of 6.1% compared to the same period in 2025. In addition, nearly 74,300 businesses nationwide resumed operations, a decrease of 14.0%.
According to the General Statistics Office's report, the total number of newly established and reactivated businesses in the first nine months of 2026 reached over 223,900, a decrease of 3.2% compared to the same period last year. On average, 24,900 businesses entered the market each month.
The number of businesses withdrawing from the market increased by 118.8%.
Conversely, the Statistics Bureau also reported that in September, 3,671 businesses registered for temporary suspension of operations, a decrease of 31.0% compared to the previous month and a decrease of 19.6% compared to the same period in 2025.
In addition, 9,371 businesses ceased operations pending dissolution procedures, an increase of 23.9% and 52.1%; 7,918 businesses completed dissolution procedures, a decrease of 17.8% but an increase of 89.3% compared to the same period last year.
Overall, in the first nine months of 2026, the number of businesses temporarily suspending operations was nearly 89,800, a decrease of 9.7% compared to the same period last year. 33,500 businesses ceased operations pending dissolution procedures, a decrease of 37.0%.
In the first nine months of this year, more than 48,700 businesses completed dissolution procedures, an increase of 118.8%. On average, 19,100 businesses withdrew from the market each month.
Of these, the majority of businesses withdrawing from the market were in the service sector, accounting for 37,923 businesses (77.8%), with the majority being wholesale, retail, and auto and motorcycle repair businesses, accounting for 18,579 businesses (48.9%).
Many businesses assess the business trend as improving and will continue to improve.
The results of the business trend survey of manufacturing enterprises in the third quarter of 2026 show that 34.2% of enterprises assessed their production and business situation as better than in the second quarter of 2026.
45.7% of businesses reported stable production and business conditions, while 20.1% assessed the situation as difficult.
For the fourth quarter of 2026, 39.2% of businesses expect the trend to improve compared to the third quarter of 2026; 44.7% believe that the business situation will remain stable, and 16.1% predict more difficulties.
