From the lecture hall to the big stage

On the evening of October 2nd, the AWAKEN music night took place at Thang Long University ( Hanoi ), as part of a series of activities welcoming new students of the K39 cohort. The program featured performances by artists who were former students of the university, as well as current students.

Ha An Huy is one of the notable names. The male singer was a student in the 34th cohort of the Applied Music department before becoming known as the winner of Big Song Big Deal 2022 and Vietnam Idol 2023. He is currently participating in the "Brother Overcoming a Thousand Obstacles" 2026 program.

This also marks the second time Ha An Huy has returned to the big stage of his old school. Information about his appearance at this year's concert was posted on the school's fan page and attracted nearly 1 million views and thousands of comments.

Another notable figure is LEON (Ta Hoang Long), a member of the group UPRIZE, who emerged from the All-Round Rookie program. Long is currently a K37 student in the Applied Music department.

The program also features MC Le Thu Hoa, Top 10 Miss Universe Vietnam 2025. She was formerly a news anchor/presenter at Hanoi Radio and Television Station and is a former student of the K29 Finance - Banking major.

The return of former students to perform added another dimension to the concert: Today's students could see their predecessors right where they started.

Minh Anh, a Japanese Language student, said she was quite surprised to learn that Ha An Huy and UPRIZE would be appearing on the show. “I knew Ha An Huy before, so when I found out he would be performing at the university, I was quite excited. Meeting someone who studied here but then made such strides in music made me realize that university years can open up many opportunities if you're willing to try.”

The musical performances attracted a large number of young people.

Over 30 student performances

While the guest artists are already active outside of the school, the rest of the program is performed by the students currently studying there.

Over 30 performances were presented by students from the Faculty of Applied Music and art clubs such as Thang Long Dance Club, Thang Long Yosakoi, Thang Long Korean Club, Muzik Club, etc.

The performances ranged from songs popular with young people such as: Move On, A Person Like You Deserves Loneliness, No More Pain, to V-pop, K-pop, and US/UK songs like: Go, Micdrop ... Some performances with folk elements such as: Mục hạ vô nhân, Lá ngọc cành vàng, Cô Đôi Thượng ngàn, Bắc Bling ... were also included in the program.

Students don't just stand on stage. Many of the LED visuals, created by members of the Multimedia Communication Club (MMC), show that behind a performance, there are groups of students responsible for the visuals and technical aspects.

Chu Trang (Multimedia Communications major) said she paid more attention to the behind-the-scenes aspects of the program. “I liked the feeling that everything was done by the students together. Some performed, some handled the visuals, and some took care of the activities off-stage. Seeing them work together on a big show made me want to try more, instead of just going to class and then going home.”

K39 begins its first days at university.

AWAKEN concluded a series of activities welcoming new students of cohort K39, lasting over a month, with nearly 3,000 new students. Prior to that, they participated in the First Moment at Thang Long photo contest, Thang Long Wisdom , and the Thang Long Uni Club Day .

At the music night, 25 new students with the highest entrance exam scores from 25 training programs were honored. Images from the day they received their acceptance letters, enrolled, and made friends were also shown.

For K39, this is one of the first activities since entering university. And on stage, students currently studying at the school have another chance to test their skills.
