On the evening of October 6th, Dong Nai City Club defeated First Division team Binh Minh Saigon 4-3 in the qualifying round of the 2026-2027 National Cup, held at Binh Phuoc Stadium.
Having been promoted to the top tier of Vietnamese football , Dong Nai City FC lost all three of their opening matches in the V-League 2026-2027, including two at home. They lost to The Cong - Viettel 0-2, Bac Ninh 0-1, and Hanoi Police 0-3.
Therefore, coach Nguyen Viet Thang and his team are eager to defeat Binh Minh Saigon in the National Cup to regain their morale.
In the 15th minute, Dong Nai City FC took the lead thanks to a goal from Luu Tu Nhan. However, the remainder of the first half was a "disaster" for the home team as their defense played terribly. This allowed Duy Nam (23rd minute) and Quoc Chi (34th minute) to score, putting Binh Minh Saigon FC back in the lead at 2-1.
At the start of the second half, Van Duc's shot hit the post, missing a scoring opportunity for Dong Nai City FC. But the home team didn't have to wait long. Because 4 minutes later, Cong Phuong, unmarked, scored the equalizer, making it 2-2.

In the 51st minute, Binh Minh Saigon FC were reduced to 10 men after defender Do Minh Quang received a red card for fouling Ivan Andrei just outside the penalty area. In the resulting free kick, Cong Phuong's shot hit the crossbar.
In the 56th minute, Quoc Loc scored to give Dong Nai City FC a 3-2 lead. Playing with ten men and trailing, everyone thought the visiting team would collapse with plenty of time left.
However, Binh Minh Saigon FC unexpectedly equalized 3-3 in the 64th minute. Receiving a pass from a teammate, Jok Atem Dor beat center-back Huu Tuan and shot the ball into the net, leaving the Binh Phuoc stadium stunned.
After conceding the equalizer, the home team played under even more pressure. From a free-kick in his preferred position just outside the penalty area in the 67th minute, Cong Phuong shot over the crossbar. Fortunately, in the 76th minute, striker Ivan Andrei scored to give Dong Nai City FC a 4-3 lead. This was also the final score of the match.
Speaking after the match, captain Cong Phuong shared: "The first win of the season has boosted the morale of the whole team before the important away match against Bac Ninh FC in round 4 of the V-League. This is an opponent we've faced before in the First Division, and I believe we can win."
Speaking about Hanoi Police, their opponent in the Round of 16 of the 2026-2027 National Cup, Cong Phuong said that he and the whole team will have solutions and ways to win.
Song Lam Nghe An continues to impress.
After two consecutive wins in the V-League 2026-2027, Song Lam Nghe An FC continued their winning streak in the National Cup by defeating First Division team Lam Dong 2-0 at Da Lat Stadium on the evening of October 6th.
With four U23 Vietnam national team players who participated in the 2026 Asian Games in their squad, plus foreign players and two overseas Vietnamese players, Song Lam Nghe An Club is clearly superior to the home team.
But it wasn't until the 85th minute that the away team scored the opening goal after a beautiful free-kick by Dang Van Lam. In the 90+4th minute, Bruno Pereira scored after dribbling past center-back Le Cao Hoai An and shooting past goalkeeper Truong Lam Nhat.
This is the second defeat for newcomer Lan Dong after losing 0-1 to Ho Chi Minh City FC in their opening match of the 2026-2027 First Division League.
