Therefore, despite advancing in the National Cup, this victory revealed too many problems for the Dong Nai city team in their arduous journey in the V.League ahead.

Playing with what was considered their strongest lineup, the home team, Dong Nai City, easily gained the upper hand from the start. In the 16th minute, Luu Tu Nhan scored the opening goal for the home team, Binh Phuoc. It seemed that the early goal would make things easier for the V.League team against the First Division side. However, just about 15 minutes later, Dong Nai City conceded two more easy goals, ending the first half trailing 1-2.
Entering the second half, Dong Nai City played with more determination. In the 48th minute, Cong Phuong scored an early goal to equalize the score at 2-2. Immediately afterwards, the advantage shifted back to Coach Viet Thang's players when defender Minh Quang of Binh Minh Saigon received a red card after fouling Ivan just outside the penalty area. Just a few minutes later, Quoc Loc of the home team Dong Nai capitalized on this advantage by scoring to make it 3-2.

It seemed that the opening goal would help Cong Phuong and his teammates play more smoothly. However, due to a moment of indecisiveness from the defense, Atem Dor, a foreign player for Binh Minh Saigon, seized the opportunity to equalize the score at 3-3. This goal also highlighted the numerous problems in the team's playing style, as the attack, despite scoring, was unimpressive, while the defense was extremely weak. Fortunately, Ivan, the only foreign player selected for the match, managed to "speak up" to help Dong Nai city secure a hard-fought 4-3 victory against a team ranked one league lower.
After the National Cup match against First Division team Binh Minh Saigon, despite winning and advancing to the next round, coach Viet Thang and his team still have a lot to do when they return to the V.League if they don't want to fall further behind in the standings.
